Order Of The Republic (Moldova)
The Order of the Republic ( ro, Ordinul Republicii) is Moldova's highest order. It is awarded by the President of Moldova for exceptional merits in all fields which benefit Moldova and humanity as a whole. The order was established in July 1992 and its collar and badge are made from silver. A recipient cannot receive the award twice. The next (lower) award is the Order of Ștefan cel Mare. President Of Moldova
The President of the Republic of Moldova () is the head of state of Moldova. The current president is Maia Sandu, who assumed office on 24 December 2020. Duties and functions The office of the presidency in Moldova is largely ceremonial, with most of the formal political power exercised by parliament and the prime minister. However, because the president represents Moldova internationally, they have sway over the country's relationships with other countries. In addition, the president can influence public policy by using their high profile to initiate and participate in public discourse. A collection of organizational bodies collectively known as the Presidential Administration, whose members are appointed by the president, serves as the communication service between the government and the presidency. Nicolae Dabija (politician)
Nicolae Dabija (15 July 1948 – 12 March 2021) was a writer, literary historian, and politician from the Republic of Moldova, honorary member of the Romanian Academy (from 2003,) and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (from 2012). Biography Dabija was born on 15 July 1948 in Codreni village, Cimișlia, at the time in the Moldavian SSR of the Soviet Union. Of Romanian nationality and Orthodox religion, he was the nephew of the archimandrite Serafim Dabija, a Romanian confessor deported to a Gulag camp in 1947. In 1966 he enrolled at the journalism faculty of the State University of Moldova. In the third year he was expelled for "pro-Romanian and anti-Soviet activity"; re-admitted in 1970 in the Faculty of Philology, he graduated from the university in 1972. Mircea Snegur (; born 17 January 1940) is a Moldovan politician who was served as first President of Moldova from 1990–1997. Before that, he served as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet 1989–1990 (head of state) and Chairman of the Supreme Soviet from 27 April to 3 September 1990. Petru Lucinschi (; born 27 January 1940) is a former Moldovan politician who was Moldova's second President (1997–2001). Biography Early life and education Petru Lucinschi was born on 27 January 1940 in Rădulenii Vechi village, Soroca County, Kingdom of Romania (now Florești district) into the family of Kirill Vasilievich Lucinschi. Lucinschi carries a transcribed version of the Polish surname Łuczyński, but has never publicly identified with a Polish heritage. In 1962, he graduated from Chisinau State University. Ion Hadârcă (born 17 August 1949 in Sîngerei, USSR) is a poet, translator and Moldovan politician, deputy to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova between 1990 and 1998 and from 2009 to 2014. Ion Hadârcă was the founder and first president of the Popular Front of Moldova (1989-1992), chairman of the Liberal Reformist Party. Aneta Grosu (born 24 September 1957) is a journalist from the Republic of Moldova. She is the editor in chief of the investigative newspaper Ziarul de Gardă since its appearance. She is a leader of the Democratic Forum of Romanians in Moldova.
