Oran Grand Prix
The Algerian Grand Prix or ''Grand Prix d'Alger'' was a auto racing, motor race held in the 1920s and 1930s at several coastal road courses in the Departments of France, department of French Algeria. Algerian Grand Prix The success of the Italian organised Tripoli Grand Prix and the increasing popularity of the Moroccan Grand Prix in the French protectorate in Morocco (both began in 1925) saw motor racing bloom across French North Africa. Alongside the neighbouring Tunis Grand Prix, the Algerian Grand Prix was first held in the spring of 1928. A road course was chosen in Staouéli, west of the capital Algiers. The race was held on May 6 made up of a small grid made up mostly of Grand Prix Bugattis and Amilcar cyclecars. Jean-Pierre Wimille
Jean-Pierre Wimille (26 February 1908 – 28 January 1949) was a Grand Prix motor racing driver and a member of the French Resistance during World War II. Biography Born in Paris, France to a father who loved motor sports and was employed as the motoring correspondent for the Petit Parisien newspaper, Jean-Pierre Wimille developed a fascination with racing cars at a young age. He was 22 years old when he made his Grand Prix debut, driving a Bugatti 37A at the 1930 French Grand Prix in Pau. Career Driving a Bugatti T51, in 1932 he won the La Turbie hill climb, the Grand Prix de Lorraine and the Grand Prix d'Oran. Pierre "Pagnibon" Boncompagni (19 May 1913 – 7 June 1953) was a French racing driver, best remembered for winning the 1951 Tour de France Automobile. A voiturette is a miniature automobile. History ''Voiturette'' was first registered by Léon Bollée in 1895 to name his new motor tricycle. The term became so popular in the early years of the motor industry that it was used by many makers to describe their small cars. The word comes from the French word for "automobile", ''voiture''. The Bugatti Type 51 series succeeded the famous Type 35 as Bugatti's premier racing car for the 1930s. The Alfa Romeo P3, P3 monoposto or Tipo B was a classic Grand Prix car designed by Vittorio Jano, one of the Alfa Romeo 8C models. The P3 was first genuine single-seat Grand Prix racing car and Alfa Romeo's second Open wheel car, monoposto after Tipo A monoposto (1931). It was based on the earlier successful Alfa Romeo P2. Louis Chiron
Louis Alexandre Chiron (3 August 1899 – 22 June 1979) was a Monégasque racing driver who competed in rallies, sports car races, and Grands Prix. Among the greatest drivers between the two World Wars, his career embraced over thirty years, starting in 1927, and ending at the end of the 1950s. He is still the oldest driver ever to have finished in Formula One, having taken 6th place in the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix when he was 55.
