Operation Care
Operation Care was the name given to a police investigation concerning widespread allegations of historical child sexual abuse in children's homes in the Merseyside district of England. The investigation carried on, despite claims that police used 'trawling' methods to dig up evidence. BBC"'Care' operation methods questioned" 5 December 2000. Retrieved 30 July 2016. Trawling was stopped following the Home Affairs Select Committee findings. Trawling continued under the title of 'dip-sampling'. As a result a number of people were convicted as a result of the investigations, and some convictions stand. Survivors who gave evidence have been accused of being motivated by possible compensation. Child sexual abuse (CSA), also called child molestation, is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. The Home Affairs Select Committee is a Departmental Committee of the House of Commons in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Remit The Home Affairs Committee is one of the House of Commons Select committees related to government departments: its terms of reference are to examine "the expenditure, administration and policy of the Home Office and its associated public bodies". The Committee chooses its own subjects of inquiry, within the overall terms of reference. Dave Jones (footballer, Born 1956)
David Ronald Jones (born 17 August 1956) is an English former footballer and manager who was most recently the manager of Hartlepool United. Jones played for Everton, Coventry and Preston North End as a defender. In 1995, he became the manager of Stockport County, guiding the team to a League Cup semi-final and automatic promotion to the second tier of English football in 1997. He left Stockport to become the manager of Southampton in the Premier League, where he stayed for over 100 games until he was suspended by the club in January 2000 after his arrest on charges of child abuse. When the case came to court the judge recorded a not guilty verdict. Jones later spoke of his bitterness about the handling of the case and claimed it was the cause of his father's death, who had died shortly after the allegations became public.
