Opacities (EP)
''Opacities'' is the fourth EP by British progressive metal band SikTh. The EP is the band's first release since reforming in 2014. ''Opacities'' was self–released by the band on 4 December 2015. Background and recording SikTh reformed in 2014 and played at Download Festival followed by a UK tour. The band announced they would begin recording a new album in summer 2015 with a release scheduled sometime in November/December. The album was crowd funded via PledgeMusic and was recorded without the assistance of a record label. Release and promotion In promotion of ''Opacities'' a music video for the song "Philistine Philosophies" was released on 2 November 2015. The album became available for streaming via ''The Independent'' a month later on 2 December. ''Opacities'' was released on 4 December. SikTh played five shows with Slipknot in support of the EP. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The newspaper was controlled by Tony O'Reilly's Irish Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to the Russian oligarch and former KGB Officer Alexander Lebedev in 2010. Dan Weller
Dan Weller (born 3 April 1980) is a producer/mixer/writer and guitarist, known for his work in rock and metal. He was born in Liverpool and moved to Hertfordshire at age 6. At 15 he began playing guitar and formed a band with school friends. That band later became SikTh. SikTh In 1999/2000 Weller and school friend Graham Pinney formed SikTh. They recruited singers Mikee W Goodman and Justin Hill, bassist James Leach and drummer Dan 'Loord' Foord. SikTh went on to become one of the UK's most influential Heavy Metal bands releasing 3 EP's and 2 Albums internationally. In 2011 ''The Guardian'' wrote that along with Swedish band Meshuggah, SikTh were the founders of the international Metal phenomenon Djent. SikTh became very popular across the world and particularly in the UK, US and Japan. Spoken Word
Spoken word refers to an oral poetic performance art that is based mainly on the poem as well as the performer's aesthetic qualities. It is a late 20th century continuation of an ancient oral artistic tradition that focuses on the aesthetics of recitation and word play, such as the performer's live intonation and voice inflection. Spoken word is a "catchall" term that includes any kind of poetry recited aloud, including poetry readings, poetry slams, jazz poetry, and hip hop music, and can include comedy routines and prose monologues. Unlike written poetry, the poetic text takes its quality less from the visual aesthetics on a page, but depends more on phonaesthetics, or the aesthetics of sound. Mikee Goodman
Mikee W. Goodman is a British singer, best known for being one of the two vocalists of the progressive metal band SikTh. He made an album in 2012 titled '' Awoken Broken'' under the project Primal Rock Rebellion, with Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith. Career Goodman performed as a guest vocalist for Bat for Lashes, Cyclamen, Deathember, This Is Menace and Periphery. He has also been a member of the bands Outside The Coma (formerly Outpatients), The Painted Smiles and Sad Season. In 2002, he wrote and directed a music video for the SikTh song "How May I Help You?", which was awarded best video of 2003 in ''Big Cheese Magazine''. The video appeared on Scuzz MTV2 UK and MTV Asia. He has since directed other music videos which are accessible on Vimeo. Slipknot (band)
Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Gray died on May 24, 2010, and was replaced during 2011–2014 by guitarist Donnie Steele. Jordison was dismissed from the band on December 12, 2013. It was started to facilitate musicians looking to pre-sell, market, and distribute projects; such as recordings and concerts. Progressive Metal
