One Theater Square
One Theater Square is a mixed-use (residential and commercial) building in Newark, New Jersey. It is located across from Military Park and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, which inspired its name. Completed in 2018, it includes the first newly-constructed high rise apartment building to be built in the city in more than fifty years. It was designed by BLT Architects. Concept and development NJPAC was originally conceived to have additional real estate component, including two buildings at the site of One Theater Square. The project was proposed in 2005 by former NJPAC president and CEO Lawrence P. Goldman. NJPAC and Dranoff Properties of Philadelphia signed a Letter of Intent for the development of a mixed-use luxury residential and retail project in 2008. In building construction, topping out (sometimes referred to as topping off) is a Builders' rites, builders' rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction. NJPAC/Center Street station is a light rail station on the Newark Light Rail's ''Broad Street Extension''. It is located in Downtown Newark, New Jersey, on the south west corner of the McCarter Highway and Center Street at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) at the northern end of Military Park. The Newark Light Rail (NLR) is a light rail system serving Newark, New Jersey and surrounding areas, operated by New Jersey Transit Bus Operations. The service consists of two segments, the original Newark City Subway (NCS), and the extension to Broad Street station. The City Subway opened on May 16, 1935, while the combined Newark Light Rail service was officially inaugurated on July 17, 2006. Newark City Subway The Newark City Subway is the longer and older of the two segments. The line is a "subway–surface" line which runs underground from Penn Station to Warren Street, and above-ground north of Warren Street. 50 Rector Park is an apartment building in Newark, New Jersey, the first market rate residential high-rise to be newly built in the city since 1962. Originally called One Riverview and later 1 Rector Street, there was a groundbreaking in 2013, but construction did not begin at the site until the spring of 2017. New Jersey Bell Headquarters Building
The New Jersey Bell Headquarters Building is located in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1929 by the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 21, 2005. The art deco building was designed by Ralph Thomas Walker of the architectural firm Voorhees, Gmelin, and Walker. The buff brick and sandstone façade is decorated with pilasters created by sculptor Edward McCartan. Since the building's opening, soft orange lights have bathed its upper floors at night.
