Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (shopping Mall)
The Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (OEZ) or Olympia shopping mall is a shopping mall opened in 1972. It is located in the Moosach district of Munich, Germany. The name comes from the simultaneous construction of the adjacent home of the press for the Summer Olympics in 1972. In 1993–94, the shopping centre was extended and modernized by the Munich architects Hans Baumgarten and Curt O. Schaller. Shops The sales area of the OEZ, which belongs to the ECE Project Management, covers 56,000 m2. There are around 135 shops spread across two floors, with three department stores, several major clothing chains, and many grocery stores, service outlets, restaurants and cafes. Moosach is the 10th northwestern district of Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is sectioned in the urban districts Hartmannshofen, Pressestadt and Borstei. It is surrounded by: Feldmoching-Hasenbergl (north), Milbertshofen-Am Hart (east), Neuhausen-Nymphenburg (south), Pasing-Obermenzing (southwest) and Allach-Untermenzing (west). It has a history of 4000 years of human settlement. History and structure An almost uninterrupted chain of prehistoric finds suggests a continuous settlement from 4000 years up to the younger Stone Age. Hanauer Straße
Hanauer Straße in Munich is an arterial road about one and a half kilometers long extending from south to north in the Moosach district. It was named after the Hesse city of Hanau. Geographical location Hanauer Straße branches from Dachauer Straße, opposite the Westfriedhof, as an extension of the Orpheusstraße to the north. It crosses the Georg-Brauchle-Ring after about 400 meters. After crossing this road, it connects to the Lassallestraße. Development Former development The area of the Moosach gasworks of ''Stadtwerke München'' extended between Hanauer Straße, Georg-Brauchle-Ring and the Borstei. The Munich U-Bahn (german: U-Bahn München) is an electric rail rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and commonly known as Munich 1972 (german: München 1972), was an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. The event was overshadowed by the Munich massacre in the second week, in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer at Olympic village were killed by Palestinian Black September members.
