Oliver Wendel Dobbins (born November 30, 1941) is a former American football defensive back who played one season with the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the eighteenth round of the 1964 NFL Draft. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs. The 1964 National Football League draft was held in Chicago, Illinois, at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers on Monday, December 2, 1963.
