Oliver Jones (Irish MP)
Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Jones, M.P. (died 1664) was a Welsh-Irish soldier and politician from an influential Protestant family. The fourth son of Church of Ireland Bishop Lewis Jones (1542–1646) and the nephew of Primate of All Ireland James Ussher, Oliver Jones' brothers were either Protestant clerics ( Henry Jones, Ambrose Jones), soldiers and politicians ( Theophilus Jones, Michael Jones), or both – his brother Henry was the Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher, but also served as Scoutmaster General for Cromwell. Oliver fought in the Irish Rebellion of 1641 and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was appointed governor of Leighlinbridge in 1651. After the Restoration he was elected to the Parliament of Ireland from Knocktopher in 1661, serving until his death in 1664. Oliver Jones had at least two children, Rebecca and Ambrose. Oliver Jones (-1682) was an Irish politician and judge of the seventeenth century, who was widely rumoured to have secret Roman Catholic sympathies, and was criticised for changing sides during the English Civil War. He was born in Athlone, the third son of John Jones, a merchant, and Jane Messett.Ball, F. Early life He was born in Head of Petitcodiac (later Petitcodiac, New Brunswick), the son of Jacob Jones and Hannah Corey. Oliver Theophilus Jones, (born September 11, 1934 in Little Burgundy, Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian jazz pianist, organist, composer and arranger. Musical career Born to Barbadian parents, Oliver Jones began his career as a pianist at the age of five, studying with Mme Bonner in Little Burgundy's Union United Church, made famous by Trevor W. Payne's Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir. He continued to develop his talent through his studies with Oscar Peterson's sister, Daisy Peterson Sweeney, starting at eight years old. In addition to performing at Union United Church when he was a child, he also performed a solo novelty act at the Cafe St. Michel as well as other clubs and theaters in the Montreal area. Oliver C Jones (born 1985 in Shropshire, UK) is a contemporary British artist known for his large-scale photorealist chalk pastel drawings. Jones graduated in 2008 from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with First-Class Honors. Shortly after graduation, Jones was the winner of the Best of UK competition at SaLon Gallery, London, earning a place in the UK's Future Greats show.
