Oliver C Jones
Oliver C Jones (born 1985 in Shropshire, UK) is a contemporary British artist known for his large-scale photorealist chalk pastel drawings. Jones graduated in 2008 from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with First-Class Honors. Shortly after graduation, Jones was the winner of the Best of UK competition at SaLon Gallery, London, earning a place in the UK's Future Greats show. In 2010, Jones was shortlisted for the Threadneedle Prize for Painting and Sculpture for his work ''Georgina'', which featured 'an optical illusion in which a girl's face was upside-down and the eyes and mouth were flipped up the right way.' His work was also featured in the BBC2 show Show Me the Monet. Jones was shortlisted for the Young Masters Art Prize 2014 and awarded a Highly Commended Prize. Threadneedle Prize
The Columbia Threadneedle Prize (formerly The Threadneedle Prize) is a major art prize, which showcases contemporary figurative art. It was launched by the Mall Galleries in 2008. The prize is open to any artist, eighteen or over, who is living or working in the UK or Continental Europe. The prize is named after the asset management firm, Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Background The Threadneedle Prize was launched in 2008 to support the popular interest in figurative art. It was organised by the Federation of British Artists and offered a prize of £25,000. The new competition coincided with a move by the rival Turner Prize away from painting and sculpture and, in some eyes, becoming "trivial and dull". GUSFORD , los angeles is a contemporary art gallery located in Los Angeles, California, US. The gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists, both local and international. History GUSFORD , los angeles was founded in 2012 by artist and long-time collector Kelsey Lee Offield, and is dedicated to developing and nurturing emerging artists. The gallery program is built solely of solo artist presentations, where artists create and exhibit an entire body of work.
