Oliver Goodall
Oliver Goodall (May 28, 1922 – October 30, 2010)http://www.plazanoir.com/tuskegee-airmen-oliver-goodall-dies-at-88/ was an American military aviator who served with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. He was involved in the Freeman Field Mutiny, and he was active member in the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Early life Goodall attended the University of Detroit. He joined the United States Army Air Force in Pasadena. He did most of his training at Selfridge Field with the rest of the 477th Bombardment Group. The mutiny The Freeman Field Mutiny was a culmination of many events that were caused by racism. The first was the switch from the 477th home base to a much smaller and less well-equipped base. The second being the racist commander not allowing blacks and whites to talk to each other, and the third not allowing the black officer into the officer club. Tuskegee Airmen
The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of primarily African American military pilots (fighter and bomber) and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332d Fighter Group and the 477th Fighter Group, 477th Bombardment Group (Medium) of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). The name also applies to the navigators, bombardiers, mechanics, instructors, crew chiefs, nurses, cooks, and other support personnel. The Tuskegee airmen received praise for their excellent combat record earned while protecting American bombers from enemy fighters. The group was awarded three Distinguished Unit Citations. Selfridge Air National Guard Base or Selfridge ANGB is an Air National Guard installation located in Harrison Township, Michigan, near Mount Clemens. The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber that was introduced in 1941 and named in honor of Major General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation.
