Olhar
''Olhar'' (Portuguese for "''Look''") is the debut album by Brazilian band Metrô (not counting their self-titled album released as A Gota Suspensa in 1983), released in 1985 by Epic Records. A critically and commercially successful album, ''Olhar'' spawned numerous hit singles which were very popular at the time of their release and are still remembered to this day, such as "Tudo Pode Mudar", "Cenas Obscenas" (which counted with a guest appearance by Léo Jaime on guitar and backing vocals), "Johnny Love" (which was included in the soundtrack of Lael Rodrigues' 1985 film ''Rock Estrela'', in which the whole line-up of Metrô cameod as themselves) and "Ti Ti Ti", used as the opening theme of the eponymous ''telenovela'' which ran from 1985 to 1986. A shorter version of their 1984 hit " Beat Acelerado" (subtitled "2nd Version") is also included. Metrô is a Brazilian band formed in 1978, then known as A Gota Suspensa before renaming themselves in 1984. Beginning as a progressive rock band, they later shifted to a more synth-pop-influenced direction, becoming one of the most successful groups in the then-thriving Brazilian rock/new wave scene. "Beat Acelerado" (Portuguese for "''Fast Beat''") is a single by Brazilian band Metrô, released in 1984 by Epic Records. The lead single for their debut studio album ''Olhar'', which would come out in the following year, it was the band's first official release under the name "Metrô" (they were known as A Gota Suspensa from their foundation in 1978 until 1984) and their first of many releases under the Epic label. Ti Ti Ti (song)
"Ti Ti Ti" (Brazilian Portuguese slang for "''Chit-Chatter''") is a single by Brazilian synthpop band Metrô, released in 1985 by Epic Records. Written by Rita Lee (one of Metrô's major influences) alongside her long-time partner Roberto de Carvalho, the song was originally featured on the band's debut album ''Olhar'', but would acquire higher fame after being included in the soundtrack of the eponymous ''telenovela'' broadcast by Rede Globo from 1985 to 1986, serving as its opening theme. A music video for it was made in the same year. A cover of the song by Rita Lee herself would be used as the opening theme of the ''telenovela''s 2010 remake. Virginie Adèle Lydie Boutaud-Manent (''née'' Boutaud; born February 27, 1963), also known mononymously as Virginie, is a French Brazilian singer, songwriter, classical guitarist, and former model and actress, famous for being the vocalist of the new wave bands Metrô and Virginie & Fruto Proibido. Biography Boutaud was born in São Paulo on February 27, 1963, to French emigrants. Tudo Pode Mudar
"Tudo Pode Mudar" (Portuguese for "''Everything Can Change''") is a song from the Metrô album '' Olhar''. It was written by the ''gaúcho'' singer Joe Euthanazia (in his second collaboration with Metrô, the first one being "Johnny Love") with Ronaldo Santos, and released as a B-side to the single " Ti Ti Ti". It is one of the band's most memorable hits thanks to the massive airplay it received at the time of its release, making it the second most played song on Brazilian radios in 1985 after "We Are the World". A music video for the song, directed by Eid Walesko, was released in the same year. Leonardo "Léo" Jaime (born April 23, 1960) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor and writer, famous for being one of the founding members of the rockabilly band João Penca e Seus Miquinhos Amestrados. Mecano
Mecano was a Spanish pop band formed in 1981 and active until 1992. Mecano became one of the most successful Spanish pop bands of all time. The band is still the best-selling Spanish band, with over 25 million records worldwide. They were considered by some to be avant-garde for their time and part of la Movida Madrileña countercultural movement. They had a brief comeback in 1998. ''Crime Perfeito'' (Portuguese for "''Perfect Crime''") is the only release by Virginie & Fruto Proibido, a band fronted by Virginie Boutaud (famous for being the vocalist of new wave band Metrô) and also comprising Don Beto (guitar), Nilton Leonardi (bass) and Albino Infantozzi (drums). It was released in 1988 by Epic Records. The band was founded also in 1988, two years after Virginie was fired from Metrô due to "creative divergences", and ended in 1995 after she decided to retire from the musical business until 2002, when Metrô reformed and she was reunited with them. ''A Gota Suspensa'' (Portuguese for "''The Suspended Drop''") is the only release by A Gota Suspensa, a Brazilian experimental/progressive rock band formed in São Paulo in 1978 and which would acquire bigger fame after changing its name to Metrô in 1984. As such, it comprised Virginie Boutaud on vocals, Alec Haiat on guitars, Yann Laouenan on keyboards, Xavier Leblanc on bass and Daniel "Dany" Roland on drums, plus saxophonist Marcel Zimberg, who left the band after they changed their name and musical direction. (Leblanc was busy studying during the album's recording sessions though, and for that was replaced by Tavinho Fialho.)
