Ole O. Sageng
Ole O. Sageng (December 1, 1871 – March 30, 1963) was an American farmer, educator, and politician. Sageng was born in Østerdalen, Norway and emigrated to the United States, with his family, in 1878 and settled near Dalton, Minnesota, Dalton, Otter Tail, Minnesota, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. He went to the local public schools and graduated from the Kennedy Secondary School, Fergus Falls High School in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Sageng also went to Augsburg College. He lived in Dalton, Minnesota with his wife and family, was a farmer and taught school in Otter Tail County and in Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Sageng served in the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1901 and 1902 and in the Minnesota Senate from 1907 to 1914, from 1915 to 1922, and from 1951 to 1954. Sageng was a member of the People's Party (United States), Populist Party and was a supporter of women's suffrage and of Prohibition in the United States. Østerdalen
Østerdalen () is a valley and traditional district in Innlandet county, in Eastern Norway. This area typically is described as the large Glåma river valley as well as all its tributary valleys. It includes the municipalities Rendalen, Alvdal, Folldal, Tynset, Tolga and Os in the north, Elverum, Stor-Elvdal, Engerdal, Trysil and Åmot in the south. It historically included Särna and Idre, which is now in Sweden. Geography Østerdalen is quite wide in most places. Østerdalen is characterized by tranquil landscapes and rounded mountains. The lower valley is mostly covered by pine forests and more rolling hills. Typical of Østerdalen is that large parts of the forest floor are covered with reindeer moss, a variety of lichen. Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party
The Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) is the Minnesota affiliate of the U.S. Democratic Party. As of 2022, it controls four of Minnesota's eight U.S. House seats, both of its U.S. Senate seats, the Minnesota House of Representatives, and all other statewide offices, including the governorship. Beginning in 2023, the party will also control the Minnesota Senate, giving it full control of state government. The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is a nonprofit educational and cultural institution dedicated to preserving the history of the U.S. state of Minnesota. It was founded by the territorial legislature in 1849, almost a decade before statehood. The Society is named in the Minnesota Constitution.
