Ole C. Lee
Ole Christopher Lee (September 27, 1847 – February 11, 1919) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Ole Christopher Lee was born in Norway. As a child, he moved to the United States, arriving with his family in 1850. He settled in Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1879. He married Amelia Anderson in 1885. Lee died in Stoughton on February 11, 1919. Political career After working as a county schoolteacher, Lee was clerk of Stoughton from 1882 to 1887 and mayor in 1888. Stoughton, Wisconsin
Stoughton is a city in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. It straddles the Yahara River about 20 miles southeast of the state capital, Madison. Stoughton is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,173. Known for its Norwegian heritage, Stoughton hosts a citywide celebration of Syttende Mai, the Norwegian constitution day. Part of the city's celebration of its Norwegian heritage is the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers dance group, sponsored by Stoughton High School, as well as Norwegian flags and memorabilia displayed throughout the town. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive.
