Oldland Abbotonians Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in Oldland Common South Gloucestershire, England. They are currently members of the and play at the Aitchison Playing Fields. The club is affiliated to the Somerset County FA and Gloucestershire County FA. History The club was founded as St. Annes (Oldland) in 1910. The current incarnation of the club was formed from a merger between Oldland and Longwell Green Abbotonians in 1998. Oldland had played in the Gloucestershire County League on-and-off since 1974. Oldland Common
Oldland Common is a village in the far south region of South Gloucestershire, England, on the outskirts of Bristol. It is in the civil parish of Bitton, approximately 8 miles between the centres of cities Bristol and Bath. Oldland Common is the birthplace of the famous astronomer Sir Bernard Lovell, and is home to the Sir Bernard Lovell secondary school, a designated language college opened by Lovell himself in 1972, once attended by England cricketer Marcus Trescothick and Millwall FC manager, and former Bristol Rovers FC player, Ian Holloway. The Somerset County Football Association, also known as the Somerset FA, is the governing body of football in the county of Somerset. The association was formed in 1885. History The Somerset County Football Association was formed in 1885. There was a very small number of clubs at that time and no mandatory requirement to be affiliated. It is very different from today where there are in excess of 800 clubs which equates to probably more than 2,000 teams. The Gloucestershire County Football League is a football league in England, founded in 1968. The league is affiliated to the Gloucestershire County FA. It sits at step 7 (or level 11) of the National League System and is a feeder to Divisions One of the Hellenic League and Western League.
