Okere is a parliament constituency in Ghana. Daniel Botwe is the member of parliament for the constituency. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won a majority of 5,245 votes to become the MP. He succeeded Brandford Kwame Daniel Adu who had represented the constituency in the 4th Republic parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Akuapim North District as its capital town.
Akuapim North Municipal District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Akuapim North District, which was created from the former Akuapim District Council; until it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2012 to become Akuapim North Municipal District. However on 15 March 2018, the northeast part of the district was split off to create Okere District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Akuapim North Municipal District. Daniel Kwaku Botwe (born February 26, 1958) is a Ghanaian politician. He is the Member of Parliament of Okere constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He served as Minister for Information and National Orientation in the John Agyekum Kufour administration, He served as the Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development and also the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development in the Nana Akufo-Addo first and second term of office respectively. This is a list of the 275 constituencies represented in the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, as at the December 2016 general election. It had been increased from 260 at the previous election in December 2012 parliamentary election. Each constituency is represented by a single member of parliament (MP). There were 230 parliamentary constituencies previously. History At the time Ghana became an independent country, there were 104 seats in parliament. This increased to 198 after 1965 when Ghana became a one party state. At the start of the Second Republic in 1969, the number of seats were increased to 140.
