Ohio's 23rd Senatorial District
Ohio's 23rd senatorial district has always been based in western Cuyahoga County, and includes the western third of Cleveland and some of Cleveland's western suburbs. It encompasses Ohio House districts 13, 14 and 15. It has a Cook PVI of D+12. Its Ohio Senator is Democrat Nickie Antonio. She resides in Lakewood, a city located in Cuyahoga County. Cuyahoga County ( or ) is a large urban County (United States), county located in the Northeast Ohio, northeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. The Cuyahoga County Council is the legislative branch of the government of Cuyahoga County in Ohio. Cuyahoga, along with Summit, is one of only two of Ohio's 88 counties not governed by a three-member commission. Dale Miller
Dale Miller (born September 16, 1949) is a politician from the U.S. state of Ohio. He is the Democratic member of the Cuyahoga County Council, serving since January 1, 2011. He served in the Ohio Senate from 2006 to 2010, and in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1997 to 2006. He also was a member of Cleveland City Council from 1979 to 1997. Life and career In 1976, Miller received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah, after obtaining his MS in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah in 1974, and his BS in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University in 1971. Daniel R. Brady of Cleveland, Ohio, is an American politician of the Democratic party. Brady holds a bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from Ohio University. An early staff member of Ohio Citizen Action, Brady was a member of the Cleveland City Council from 1986 to 1996. Brady was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1996 and served one term. He was elected to the Ohio Senate in 1998. In 2001, he was elected Senate minority whip by the Democratic caucus. Patrick Sweeney (politician)
Patrick Anthony Sweeney (September 2, 1939 – September 7, 2020) was an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Ohio Senate from 1997 to 1998, and a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1967 to 1997. He was appointed in January 1997 to fill the vacancy caused by Dennis Kucinich, who was elected to Congress. However, in 1998 he opted to not run for election to his Senate seat, and he was succeeded by Dan Brady in 1999. Sweeney held a master's degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and worked at Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs as Assistant to the Vice President of Governmental Relations. Dennis Kucinich
Dennis John Kucinich (; born October 8, 1946) is an American politician. A U.S. Representative from Ohio from 1997 to 2013, he was also a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States in 2004 and 2008. He ran for governor of Ohio in the 2018 election, losing in the primary to Richard Cordray. From 1977 to 1979, Kucinich served as the 53rd mayor of Cleveland, a tumultuous term in which he survived a recall election and was successful in a battle against selling the municipal electric utility before being defeated for reelection by George Voinovich. Chuck Butts
Charles Lewis "Charlie" Butts (born February 16, 1942) is a former Democratic politician, who served as a member of the Ohio Senate from 1975 to 1990. Education and early career Butts attended Oberlin high school then Oberlin College in Ohio. He took a break from Oberlin from the summer of 1962 to 1964 to work as a journalist in Mississippi for the civil rights movement. He returned to Oberlin to finish college, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 1967. By then, he had married his wife, Alice (née Gould).
