Ognjen Prica
Ognjen Prica (27 November 1899 – 9 July 1941) was a Yugoslav communist politician and journalist known for his roles in the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia and the League of Communists of Croatia. He was a victim of the Nazi-backed NDH in 1941 and was posthumously awarded the Order of the People's Hero. Biography Born in Ilidža, a suburb of Sarajevo in Austria-Hungary (present day Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 27 November 1899, Prica became interested in politics while studying mathematics and physics at the University of Zagreb. In 1921, he became the member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and was one of the founders of the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia. From 1921 until 1923, Prica lived in Vienna, where he finished his studies and worked in the Bureau of the Communist Balkan Federation. Ilidža
Ilidža ( sr-cyrl, Илиџа, ) is a town and a municipality located in Sarajevo Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has a total population of 66,730 with 63,528 in Ilidža itself, and is a chief suburb of Sarajevo and ''de facto'' its neighborhood. It is best known for the Vrelo Bosne spring, as well as the natural environment of its surroundings and historical tradition dating back to Neolithic times. Sarajevo International Airport is located nearby. Geography Ilidža is known to have a pleasant and attractive geography. The town itself is built on fairly level ground, although it is surrounded by mountains. The biggest is Mount Igman, whose peak towers above the town. Otokar Keršovani
Otokar Keršovani (23 February 1902 – 9 July 1941) was a Croatian and Yugoslav journalist, literary critic, publicist and communist politician. He was born in Trieste, which was part of Austria-Hungary at the time. The collapse of the Habsburg Empire caught him in the Istrian town of Pazin, which was soon occupied by Italian forces and its Croatian school closed. Because of that Keršovani emigrated to Yugoslavia and began to study forest management at the University of Zagreb. In 1924, he became a full-time journalist, working for Zagreb Press Bureau and contributing to the Zagreb daily ''Novosti''. At the same time, he also began to associate himself with Communism and he formally became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. In 1928, he was arrested and spent a year in prison. Božidar Adžija
Božidar Adžija ( sr-Cyrl, Божидар Аџија; 24 December 1890 – 9 July 1941) was a Yugoslav communist politician and publicist. Biography A native of Drniš in the Kingdom of Dalmatia (present-day Croatia), of Croat and Serb descent, Adžija participated in World War I as a soldier in Austro-Hungarian Army. Prior to that, he went to Prague to study law, completing his doctorate in 1914. After the war and collapse of Austria-Hungary, in 1919 he became labour policy commissioner in local Zagreb government. As an avid Social Democrat, he was member of various left-wing and Marxist parties and wrote many articles about labour and social issues. His views gradually shifted towards Communism and in 1934 he joined Communist Party of Yugoslavia. Because of that he was often arrested, the last such occasion being in March 1941, only days before the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia. Zvonimir Richtmann
Zvonimir Richtmann (22 November 19019 July 1941) was a Croatian-Jewish physicist, philosopher, politician and publicist who was killed during World War II by Ustaše. Biography Richtmann was born on 22 November 1901 in Zagreb, where he achieved his education. He studied at the Vienna University of Technology from where he graduated in 1925, and at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb which he finished and graduated from in 1932. After graduation, Richtmann taught as a professor at the engineering high school in Zagreb. Richtmann held many public lectures and has published articles about physics. He is the author of several high school textbooks in physics and has written a book ''Sigmund Freud'' in 1937. He published articles about the relationship between modern science and philosophy which brings into question the Marxist–Leninist dogma.
