Offaly County Football Team
The Offaly county football team represents Offaly in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Offaly GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Offaly's home ground is O'Connor Park, Tullamore. The team's manager is Liam Kearns. The team last won the Leinster Senior Championship in 1997, the All-Ireland Senior Championship in 1982 and the National League in 1998. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Kerry County Football Team
The Kerry county football team represents Kerry in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Kerry GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Munster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Niall McNamee
Niall McNamee (born 21 October 1985 in Rhode, County Offaly) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Rhode and the Offaly county team. He has been one of the top forwards in the country from the mid-2000s. He has had little success with Offaly but did play in the 2006 Leinster final but lost out to Dublin. He was a member of the Irish team for the 2010 International Rules Series. He has had much success at club level with both his with his local club Rhode and with UCD. With Rhode he has won Offaly Senior Football Championships in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 2012 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2016 also Niall Mcnamee won Senior footballer of the year. Tubber GAA
Tubber GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Tubber, County Clare, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located near the village of Tubber, County Clare and overlooking the Burren, Tubber GAA Club affiliated to the Clare County Board in 1885. The club fielded teams in both hurling and Gaelic football in the early years, however, emigration and political tensions resulted in the Tubber club stagnating for almost 35 years. There was a revival in 1923, when Gaelic football was abandoned, and the club contested several Clare JHC finals without success. Tubber regraded to the intermediate ranks in 1937 and claimed the Clare IHC on its first attempt. A period of decline once again followed in the late 1940s, before a revival in 1952. Bracknagh
Bracknagh or Bracnagh () is a small village in County Offaly, Ireland. It is at the junction of the R442 and R419 regional roads, halfway between Portarlington and Rathangan (8 km from both). It is thought that the settlement began with a small cluster of homes built around the road junction. Expansion along connected roads included the addition of two housing developments called, "The Ring" and "The Green" by Offaly County Council and Bord na Mona. Due to the nearest postal sorting office being in Kildare, Bracknagh is listed as a Kildare address, though it is in County Offaly. Bracknagh is home to the Ballynowlart church, where the history reports that the congregation were burned alive in the 1600s. Bracknagh is home to St Broughan's Well, the water from which is reputed to be a cure for headaches. Edenderry GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Edenderry, County Offaly, Ireland. It participates in competitions organised by the Offaly GAA county board. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams. St Rynagh's GAA
St Rynagh's ( ga, Naomh Raghnach) is the name of two Gaelic Athletic Association sister clubs that encompass the towns of Cloghan and Banagher in County Offaly, in Ireland. The St Rynagh's Football Club is based in Cloghan and wear green and white hooped jerseys; the St Rynagh's Hurling Club is based in Banagher and wear blue and gold jerseys. Formed in 1961, to represent the parish of Cloghan and Banagher, the club gained almost immediate success - winning the senior hurling championship in 1965. Captain (Gaelic Games)
A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch. Before the start of a match, a coin toss between captains of the opposing teams is used to determine which end of the ground each team will kick to. Rhode GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located just outside the Village of Rhode in County Offaly, Ireland. With 30 Senior Football wins they are the most successful team in Offaly GAA football history.
