Odile De Roubin
Odile de Roubin (born 28 September 1948) is a former professional tennis player from France. Biography As a junior, de Roubin won the girls' singles title at the 1966 French Championships. During the 1970s she competed on the professional tour, making regular appearances at the French Open and Wimbledon Championships. Her best performance came at the 1973 French Open, where she won her way through to the quarter-finals, beating third seed Virginia Wade en route. She also toppled the third seed at the 1975 French Open, American player Julie Heldman. She represented France in three editions of the Federation Cup, in 1970, 1973 and 1974, for a total of 11 ties. 1973 French Open – Women's Singles
Margaret Court defeated Chris Evert in the final, 6–7(5–7), 7–6(8–6), 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1973 French Open. It was Evert's first French Open appearance. Billie Jean King was the reigning champion, but chose not to defend her title. This tournament marked the first singles major appearance of future world No. 1 and 18-time major singles champion Martina Navratilova; she reached the quarterfinals before being defeated by Evonne Goolagong. The Championships, Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open. Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass, the traditional tennis playing surface. Also, it is the only Grand Slam that retains a night-time curfew, though matches can now continue until 11.00 pm under the lights. The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King. The Billie Jean King Cup is the world's largest annual women's international team sports competition in terms of the number of nations that compete. The current Chairperson is Katrina Adams. The Czech Republic dominated the BJK Cup in the 2010s, winning six of ten competitions in the decade. Julie Heldman (born December 8, 1945) is an American tennis player who won 22 singles titles. In 1969 and 1974, she was ranked as the world No. 5. In 1968 and 1969, she was ranked No. 2 in the U.S. She was Canadian National 18 and Under Singles Champion at age 12, U.S. Champion in Girls’ 15 Singles and Girls’ 18 Singles, Italian Open Singles Champion, Canadian Singles and Doubles Champion, and U.S. Clay Court Doubles Champion. She won three medals at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, and three gold medals at the 1969 Maccabiah Games. In 2018, Heldman published a memoir, ''Driven, A Daughter's Odyssey''.
