Oder-Spree
Oder-Spree is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the eastern part of Brandenburg, Germany. Neighboring are (from north clockwise) the district Märkisch-Oderland, the district-free city Frankfurt (Oder), Poland, the districts Spree-Neiße and Dahme-Spreewald, and the ''Bundesland'' Berlin. Geography The district is named after the two major rivers in the district - the Spree river forms a large bend within the district; the Oder river constitutes the eastern border. History The district was created in 1993 by merging the districts Eisenhüttenstadt, Beeskow and Fürstenwalde, and the district-free city Eisenhüttenstadt. Climate The city experiences a degraded oceanic climate, common in the border of Germany-Poland (Köppen: ''Cfb''). Woltersdorf, Brandenburg
Woltersdorf is a municipality in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg. It is often referred to as "near Berlin" (German: "bei Berlin") or "near Erkner" (German: "bei Erkner") as there are a number of other places bearing the same name in Germany. Storkow (Mark) is a town in Oder-Spree district, in Brandenburg, Germany. Geography Storkow is situated in the western part of Oder-Spree district, about southwest of Fürstenwalde. Friedland, Brandenburg
Friedland (Lower Sorbian: ''Bryland'') is a town in the Oder-Spree district, in Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated in the historic Lower Lusatia region, about south of Beeskow, and north of Cottbus. History The town was first mentioned as ''Fredberg'' in a 1235 deed issued by the Lusatian margrave Henry III of Meissen. A 1301 contract signed by Margrave Frederick I named a town and castle of ''Vredeburch'', then a possession of the Lords of Strehla, who served as ''ministeriales'' of the ruling House of Wettin. The present name first appeared in a 1350 bull issued by Pope Clement VI. With Lower Lusatia, Friedland passed under the suzerainty of the Bohemian Crown in 1367. Fürstenwalde
Fürstenwalde/Spree (; Lower Sorbian: ''Pśibor pśi Sprjewje'') is the most populous town in the Oder-Spree District of Brandenburg, Germany. Geography The town is situated in the glacial valley (''Urstromtal'') of the Spree river north of the Rauen Hills, about east of Berlin and west of Frankfurt (Oder). The district capital Beeskow is about to the southeast. In the north, the municipal area comprises the village of Trebus. The town is located on the western part of historic Lubusz Land (Land Lebus).
