October Language
''October Language'' is an album by the New Orleans-based duo Belong, released on 8 February 2006 by Carpark Records. It has since been re-released on vinyl by the labels Geographic North in 2009, and Spectrum Spools (an Editions Mego imprint) in 2018 and 2022. Production The album was written, recorded, and produced in 2004 in Dietrich's home studio in New Orleans. Guitars provided by Joshua Eustis were recorded in his own studio. Multiple different guitars such as the Parker Fly Deluxe and the Gibson Blueshawk, and a wide array of synths, such as the Sequential Prophet-5, the Roland Juno-106, and the Nord Micro Modular, were used in the album's production. These guitars and synths were then run through many different effect modules like the Sherman Filterbanks, the Roland RE-201, and the Frostwave Resonator, and then into the DAW Pro Tools where further VST effects were applied. Gibson Blueshawk
The Gibson Blueshawk is a discontinued model of semi-hollow body electric guitar. It was available between 1996 and 2006 as a Gibson model designed mainly for blues players (hence the name). It superficially resembles the Les Paul in that the body outline is similar. The Blueshawk was discontinued by Gibson in Spring 2006, and returned in 2015 under the Epiphone brand. Carl Perkins received the first prototype Blueshawk in 1996. A variant on the Blueshawk is named ''Gibson Little Lucille'' and features a stop tailpiece and tune-o-matic bridge. The Roland RE-201, commonly known as the Space Echo, is an audio effects unit that produces delay and reverb effects. It was produced by the Roland Corporation from 1974 to 1990. Background A tape echo device records incoming audio to a loop of magnetic tape, then replays the continuous loop over the playback head before it is erased again by new incoming audio. The Roland Juno-106 is a synthesizer released by Roland Corporation in February 1984. Features The Juno-106 is a Polyphony, polyphonic synthesizer with six voices. The Prophet-5 is an analog synthesizer manufactured by the American company Sequential (company), Sequential. It was designed by Dave Smith (engineer), Dave Smith and John S. Bowen (sound designer), John Bowen in 1977, who used Microprocessor, microprocessors, then a new technology, to create the first polyphonic synthesizer with fully programmable memory. The Parker Fly was a model of electric guitar built by Parker Guitars. It was designed by Ken Parker and Larry Fishman, and first produced in 1993. The Fly is unique among electric guitars in the way it uses composite materials. It is notable for its light weight (4.5 lb; 2.0 kg) and resonance. It was also one of the first electric guitars to combine traditional magnetic pickups with piezoelectric pickups, allowing the guitarist to access both acoustic and electric tones.
