Ocean Reef Senior High School
Ocean Reef Senior High School is an independent Public high school, located in Ocean Reef, north of Perth, Western Australia. Opened in 1983, the school's catchment area covered the northwestern part of the City of Joondalup and provides an education for approximately 1,300 students from Year 7 and Year 12. History The school opened in 1983 with 200 students in a single teaching block (now used as the Social Studies block) with a small group of year 8 and 9 students and only 14 staff. It was formally opened by the then Education Minister, Bob Pearce, on 24 February 1984. Over the years, the school has grown to around 10 blocks and a well equipped on-site library. The school now has a total of 92 teaching staff, 20 administration staff, 18 support staff and 1,217 students. During a freak storm in March 2010 the school was extensively damaged by hail and torrential rain. As a result, the school was closed for a week for all students. Connolly, Western Australia
Connolly is a northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup adjacent to Joondalup's central business district. It was built in the late 1980s as a golf course estate. Its eastern border backs onto the Mitchell Freeway. Many homes feature on the edges of Connolly but the homes bordering the golf course are generally larger and more affluent. The suburb was named in honour of John Connolly who held land in the area in 1838. Connolly was a private in the 63rd Regiment who arrived in the colony in 1829 and who farmed at Upper Swan and Bindoon after being discharged in 1834. ''Parmelia'' was a barque built in Quebec, Canada, in 1825. Originally registered on 31 May in Quebec, she sailed to Great Britain and assumed British registry. She made one voyage for the British East India Company (EIC), in 1827–1828. In 1829 she transported the first civilian officials and settlers of the Swan River Colony to Western Australia. She then made two voyages transporting convicts to New South Wales, Australia. A fire damaged her irreparably in May 1839. HMS ''Challenger'' was a 28-gun sixth rate of the Royal Navy launched at Portsmouth, England on 14 November 1826. HMS ''Success'' was an 28-gun sixth-rate wooden sailing ship notable for exploring Western Australia and the Swan River in 1827 as well as being one of the first ships to arrive at the fledgling Swan River Colony two years later, at which time she ran aground off Carnac Island. Kinross (, gd, Ceann Rois) is a burgh in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, around south of Perth and around northwest of Edinburgh. It is the traditional county town of the historic county of Kinross-shire. Heathridge is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located south of Yanchep within the City of Joondalup. Etymology Heathridge was chosen as the suburb name because of the heath type vegetation growing on the sand ridges of the area, as well as its isolation from the Perth central business district. History Prior to urban settlement in the 1970s, Heathridge was a remote and undeveloped area. It represented the central and eastern portions of Lot M1513 and the northeastern corner of Lot M1506 on Swan Location 1370.
