HMS Success (1825)
HMS ''Success'' was an 28-gun sixth-rate wooden sailing ship notable for exploring Western Australia and the Swan River in 1827 as well as being one of the first ships to arrive at the fledgling Swan River Colony two years later, at which time she ran aground off Carnac Island. History Her keel was laid at Pembroke Dock in August 1823 and she was launched on 31 August 1825. She was and , and was a sixth-rate ship with 28 guns, including twenty 32-pounders. She was sent by the Royal Navy on a mission to New South Wales and Melville Island. She made an expedition to the Swan River in 1827, arriving there in early March. Pembroke Dockyard
Pembroke Dockyard, originally called Pater Yard, is a former Royal Navy Dockyard in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales. History It was founded in 1814, although not formally authorized until the Prince Regent signed the necessary Order in Council on 31 October 1815, and was known as ''Pater Yard'' until 1817. The Mayor of Pembroke had requested the change "in deference to the town of Pembroke some distant". The site selected for the dockyard was greenfield land and the closest accommodations were in Pembroke. Office space was provided by the old frigate after she was beached. The Royal Marine garrison was housed in the hulked 74-gun ship, , after she was run aground in 1832. Many of the workmen commuted by boat from nearby communities until Pembroke Dock town was built up. Success is a southern suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn. The name ''Success'' comes from Captain James Stirling's ship . Urban development of Success didn't begin until the early 1990s when the Kwinana Freeway was extended to Forrest Road (now Armadale Road and Beeliar Drive). The population grew from 4,854 in the 2006 census to 10,148 in the 2016 census. Success Bank
Success Bank is a sandbank to the north of Cockburn Sound, off Fremantle, Western Australia within the limits of the Fremantle Outer Harbour. The bank lies to the west of Owen Anchorage. It is about deep and is just to the south of the main shipping channel of Gage Roads. Success Bank was named by Captain James Stirling after his ship , which was used for a preliminary exploration of the Swan River region in 1827. On 28 November 1829, ''Success'' revisited Western Australia and ran aground on Carnac Reef, a shoal further to the south, causing extensive damage. Success Hill railway station is a Transperth railway station 11.6 km from Perth railway station, in Western Australia, on the Midland Line.
