Oberon Tigers
Oberon Tigers is an Australian rugby league football team based in the Central West town of Oberon. The Tigers first played in the Country Rugby League-controlled Group 10 Rugby League in the competition's inaugural season in 1947, before dropping out at the end of the 1951 season. The Tigers returned in 1954 and competed in Group 10 until the end of the 1996 season. It also had another two spells in the competition from 2005-2008 and 2011-2019. They now play in the Woodbridge Cup. The club is one of the most successful teams in Group 10 history, having won 11 top grade titles, including a Group-record seven consecutive premierships from 1961 to 1967 and playing in a record 12 consecutive grand finals from 1960 to 1971. However, the club has not won a Premier League title since 1975 and the Tigers' last grade success was when its Under 18s side won the 1989 grand final. Woodbridge Cup
The Woodbridge Cup is a rugby league competition run by the New South Wales Country Rugby League. It encompasses smaller senior clubs in the Mid-West and Central West of the state. The neighbouring Mid-West Cup competition's remaining clubs merged into the league in 2022 when that league initially folded (it has since re-formed without the teams that joined the Woodbridge Cup). For all intents and purposes, it is a second division competition in the Group 11 and from 2022, Group 10 areas. History The competition began as the Group 9 Second Division in the 1940s, with clubs from towns such as Binalong, Stockinbingal and Boorowa among others. Wade Park
Wade Park is a sports ground originally constructed for cricket located in the town of Orange, New South Wales, Australia. Cricket The park has hosted Sheffield shield matches, an International T20 match between Hong Kong and Sydney Thunder plus a number of competitive A-League matches featuring the Central Coast Mariners FC – in 2006's Pre-Season against Adelaide United (resulting in a 0–0 draw), and then again in 2007 when the Mariners and Queensland Roar played out a 1–1 draw. Crowds of approximately 3,000 made an appearance at these fixtures. Greyhound racing From the 1930s until 2005 it hosted greyhound racing. Tony Trudgett
Tony Trudgett (born 29 March 1955) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a one time premiership winning player with St. George Dragons. Playing career Trudgett played for Oberon during his early career. He was signed by English club Workington Town for the 1974–75 season on the recommendation of Tony Paskins, who had played for Workington himself in the 1950s. He represented Illawarra and Country Seconds between 1976 and 1977, Sydney Seconds in 1979, and New South Wales against Great Britain in 1979. He transferred to St. George from Dapto in 1978 and played six seasons with the club between 1978 and 1983. Trudgett won a premiership with St. George in 1979. He had one last season at Penrith in 1985 where he made 21 appearances as the club made the finals for the first time in their history. Bathurst Panthers is an Australian rugby league football team based in the Central West city of Bathurst. The Panthers have played in the Country Rugby League-controlled Group 10 Rugby League since 2000, following the amalgamation of the Bathurst Leagues Club and Penrith Panthers Leagues Club. The club has won three premierships during the 21st century under its current incarnation, defeating Lithgow Workmen's Club in both 2006 and 2007 by the scores of 10–4 (after extra-time) and 24–4 respectively, before winning another in 2018 against the Cowra Magpies. Michael Sullivan (12 January 1934 – 5 April 2016), also known by the nickname of "Sully", was an English World Cup winning professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1970s. Group 9 is a rugby league competition based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, and surrounding areas. The competition is played in five grades, with these being Under 17s, Under 19s, Women's League-Tag, Reserve-Grade and First-Grade. Currently a home and away season consisting of sixteen rounds is played. Luke Branighan
Luke Branighan (born 29 June 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s. He played in the National Rugby League for the St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, primarily as a . He is the nephew of both Ray Branighan and Arthur Branighan. Career Branighan made his debut with St George Illawarra halfway through 2000. He remained in the first-grade team for the rest of the season, playing in the halves with Trent Barrett. George Rose (rugby League)
George Rose (born 13 March 1983) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He played for the Melbourne Storm, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Sydney Roosters and the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL. Early life Rose was born in Bathurst, New South Wales and was educated at Kelso High School. He was an exceptional student, and scored the top mark in a statewide mathematics competition. George played his junior rugby league for the Bathurst Penguins. St George-Illawarra Dragons
The St. George Illawarra Dragons is an Australian professional rugby league football club, representing both the Illawarra and St George regions of New South Wales. The club has competed in the National Rugby League since 1999 after a joint-venture was formed between the St. George Dragons (est. 1921) and the Illawarra Steelers (est. 1982). They officially formed as the game's first joint-venture club on 23 September 1998 and it remains the only inter-city team in the NRL.
