Oberdischingen is a municipality in Alb-Donau-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg. Geography Geographical location Oberdischingen is located on the Danube between Ehingen (9 km) and Ulm (18 km). Neighbouring communities The municipality is bordering to the north by to the district Niederhofen of Allmendingen, to the east and south to the city of Erbach and to the west to Öpfingen. History Oberdischingen was first mentioned in documents in 1148. The as Malefizschenk known Franz Ludwig Schenk von Castell (1736-1821) built here his prison. Most famous inmate of the prison was the '' Vagantin '' and '' crook '' Elisabetha Gaßner, which was executed here on January 17, 1788. Alb-Donau-Kreis is a (district) in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Biberach, Reutlingen, Göppingen and Heidenheim, the two Bavarian districts Günzburg and Neu-Ulm, and the city of Ulm. Erbach (Donau)
Erbach an der Donau is a town on the Danube River in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Located in the Alb-Donau District, Erbach lies between Ulm and Ehingen an der Donau on the southern edge of the Swabian Jura. History The oldest known mention of Erbach was in the Konstanz Tithe Book in 1275 as a parish called ''Irlebach'', although findings dating from the Neolithic Age indicate the area around Erbach was settled earlier. Erbach received town privileges on 1 August 2002. In 1972 the community Ringingen was incorporated into Erbach. In the course of community reforms in 1974 the communities Bach, Dellmensingen, Donaurieden and Ersingen were also incorporated into Erbach. Politics The mayor is elected for a term of eight years. Upper Swabian Baroque Route
The Upper Swabian Baroque Route (''Oberschwäbische Barockstraße'') is a tourist theme route through Upper Swabia, following the themes of "nature, culture, baroque". The route has a length of about 500 km (approximately 310 miles). It was established in 1966, being one of the first theme routes in Germany. There is an extension to the route into Switzerland and Austria around Lake Constance. Its logo depicts a yellow putto on a green background, putti being typical of the Baroque Era. Origin After the end of the Thirty Years' War and its ravages in 1648, followed by the counter-reformation instigated by the Catholic Church, an explosion of building works took place in the region of Upper Swabia. Ehingen (Donau) (; Swabian: ''Eegne'') is a town in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, situated on the left bank of the Danube, approx. southwest of Ulm and southeast of Stuttgart.
