Oasis is a census-designated place (CDP) located in eastern Elko County, Nevada, United States, at the junction of State Route 233 and Interstate 80, northwest of the Utah border and east of Elko. As of the 2008 American Community Survey it had a population of 34. A census-designated place (CDP) is a concentration of population defined by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purposes only. CDPs have been used in each decennial census since 1980 as the counterparts of incorporated places, such as self-governing cities, towns, and villages, for the purposes of gathering and correlating statistical data. CDPs are populated areas that generally include one officially designated but currently unincorporated community, for which the CDP is named, plus surrounding inhabited countryside of varying dimensions and, occasionally, other, smaller unincorporated communities as well. CDPs include small rural communities, edge cities, colonias located along the Mexico–United States border, and unincorporated resort and retirement communities and their environs. Interstate 80 In Nevada
Interstate 80 (I-80) traverses the northern portion of the US state of Nevada. The freeway serves the Reno metropolitan area and passes through the towns of Fernley, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Carlin, Elko, Wells, and West Wendover on its way through the state. Toano Range
The Toano Range is a mountain range located in eastern Elko County, Nevada in the United States. The highest point in the range reaches . The range is separated from the Goshute Mountains to the south by Morgan Pass. Interstate 80 and Union Pacific Railroad's Central Corridor(former Feather River Route), used both by freight trains and Amtrak's ''California Zephyr'', cross the Toano range via Silver Zone Pass. Pequop Mountains
The Pequop Mountains are a mountain range located in eastern Elko County, in northeastern Nevada in the western United States. The range runs generally north-south for approximately The high point of the range is an unnamed peak (at an elevation of ) located at 40°55.46'N and 114°35.38'W. The range comprises two distinct groups of mountains, separated by a low line of hills at Flower Pass. To the west is Independence Valley and the East Humboldt Range, while to the east is Goshute Valley and the Toano Range. The southern section of the range, bending slightly to the southwest, essentially merges with Spruce Mountain, and is the location of the South Pequop Wilderness Study Area. Nevada State Route 233
State Route 233 (SR 233) is a state highway in rural eastern Elko County, Nevada, United States. The highway follows the route of the First transcontinental railroad from Interstate 80 (I-80) to the Utah state line. The highway was formerly numbered State Route 30. Route description I-80 follows the route of the First Transcontinental Railroad throughout most of Nevada, but departs this corridor east of Wells. The historical route went around the north end of the Pequop Mountains, towards the north shore of the Great Salt Lake. Modern I-80 directly crosses these mountains en route to the south shore of the lake. State Route 233 exits I-80 at Exit 378 in Oasis, on the other side of the Pequops from Wells.
