Oan Kim
Oan Kim (born April 2, 1974) is a French photographer, video artist, and musician. Life and work Oan Kim was born in Paris. Over the years, Kim's photographic work has developed an approach to the medium that is neither strictly documentary, nor purely conceptual, re-questioning the balance of these elements with each new series he produces. Kim has had more than a dozen gallery and museum solo exhibitions since 2000 in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Macao, and has taken part in many group shows around the world. In 2009, he published ''Je suis le chien Pitié'' by Actes Sud in collaboration with Laurent Gaudé. In 2018, he released ''Digital After Love'' with Actes Sud. Kim has received several grants or commissions from CNAP, FIACRE, SCAM, and Macao Museum of Art. ''The Artist in his Studio'' is an oil painting on panel by Rembrandt c. 1628. The painting shows an artist' studio in realist style. It is held by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. One critical analysis of the painting commented on the size disparity between the canvas inside the painting and the actual canvas, saying "Rembrandt's picture is small relative to its subject, rendering something far grander than itself–a painting several times its own size." Whanki Museum
The Whanki Museum is a private art museum in Jongno-gu, in central Seoul, South Korea. It was established by the Whanki Foundation mainly to exhibit and commemorate the art of Whanki Kim, one of Korea's foremost abstract painters. The museum is located in Buam-dong, close to Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk-gu, where Whanki Kim and his wife spent many years. The atmosphere and natural environment of the two places have much in common. The museum building was designed by architect Kyu-seung Woo. Construction began in 1990, and the museum opened in November, 1992. The bulk of the collection is displayed in the main building which was specially designed to showcase Whanki Kim's art. The Cité de la Musique ("City of Music"), also known as Philharmonie 2, is a group of institutions dedicated to music and situated in the Parc de la Villette, 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. WhiteBox is a Nonprofit organization, non-profit art space located in New York City. It hosts contemporary exhibitions, performance, video and special events including readings, lectures and panel discussions.
