There were 102 households with persons age 18 and younger and 215 households with persons age 65 and older. Oakwood Park Oakwood park is home to a magnificent old stone reservoir and the school bell of the elementary school which formerly stood at this site. Older people at the park talk about swimming in the reservoir in defiance of the local police when they were children. The school was closed in 1971. The Steps of Pittsburgh refers to the collection of nearly 800 sets of city-owned steps in the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Many steps parallel existing roads, but others exist on their own and are classified as city streets and are commonly referred to as "paper streets." Nearly two-thirds of the steps are in low or moderate-income areas. Approximately 450 sets of steps are built on structures and 350 are built into sidewalks, known as "jumpwalks". The large number of steps are an engineering approach to the topography upon which the City of Pittsburgh is built. According to author Martin Aurand, Pittsburgh "lies unevenly on unruly land". The city is located at the confluence of two rivers which cut through elevated land of the Appalachian Plateau. The city is settled at elevations ranging from above sea level. Crafton, Pennsylvania
Crafton is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, west of downtown Pittsburgh. The population grew from 1,927 in 1900 to 4,583 in 1910 and to 7,163 in 1940. The population was 6,099 at the 2020 census. History Crafton is named after James S. Craft, a frontier attorney who was granted land near the "forks of the Ohio" in present-day Oakland. The sale of this land part financed purchases of land in the Chartiers valley. Charles Craft, son of James, divided the land into lots on the death of his father and submitted it to the Allegheny County Courthouse as Crafton. Following a period of building, the borough was incorporated on January 8, 1892, with Charles as the first burgess. Crafton was linked to downtown Pittsburgh by trolley in 1896. Green Tree, Pennsylvania
Green Tree is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, and a suburb of Pittsburgh. The population was 4,432 at the 2010 census. The town is the hometown of U.S. Congressman and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and ''Star Trek''/''Heroes'' star Zachary Quinto, both of whom were born in nearby Pittsburgh. Westwood (Pittsburgh)
Westwood is a neighborhood in the West End Region of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beginning as a part of the now-defunct Township of Chartiers and existing for a short time as an independent borough, Westwood was annexed by the City of Pittsburgh in three pieces: the eastern third in 1872, and the remaining sectors progressing west in 1921 and 1927. Westwood is a quiet residential community inhabited by a large variety of residents, and exhibits an eclectic mix of architectural styles that span many periods. Among these is the John Frew House, one of the oldest surviving structures west of the Allegheny Mountains, which dates (in its original form) to 1790. Westwood also contains a public primary school bearing the community's name, as well as a public swimming pool, a playground, and ballfields.
