Oaklands Hunt Club
The Oaklands Hunt Club is an Australian fox hunting club located in the Greenvale, Victoria. History The club was established on 28 July 1888, after its inaugural hunt that day from the Inverness Hotel in Bulla. The club's pony club was formed in 1956 by club members who wanted to encourage their children and the children of local landowners to ride. For the modern pentathlon at the 1956 Summer Olympics, the club hosted the riding and cross-country running components. Fox hunting is an activity involving the tracking, chase and, if caught, the killing of a fox, traditionally a red fox, by trained foxhounds or other scent hounds. A group of unarmed followers, led by a "master of foxhounds" (or "master of hounds"), follow the hounds on foot or on horseback. In Australia, the term also refers to the hunting of foxes with firearms, similar to deer hunting. Fox hunting with hounds, as a formalised activity, originated in England in the sixteenth century, in a form very similar to that practised until February 2005, when a law banning the activity in England and Wales came into force. English Foxhound
The English Foxhound is one of the four foxhound breeds of dog. It is a cousin of the American Foxhound. They are scent hounds, bred to hunt foxes by scent. Description Appearance The breed standards' guidelines for showing English Foxhounds requires them to be tall at the withers. The skull is thick and the muzzle is long. Greenvale is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Greenvale recorded a population of 21,274 at the 2021 census. Greenvale is located between Yuroke and Attwood, on Mickleham Road. History Greenvale gets it name from a farm named "Greenvale", owned by local farmer John McKerchar. It was located in the parish of Yuroke, from which the area first took its name. Bulla, Victoria
Bulla is a locality and township in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Bulla recorded a population of 668 at the 2021 census. Bulla is located adjacent to the Melbourne metropolitan area. Deep Creek, a tributary of the Maribyrnong River, flows through the township. Pony Club
Pony Club is an international youth organization devoted to educating youth about horses and riding. Pony Club organizations exist in over thirty countries worldwide. Origins Pony Club began in Great Britain in 1929 when the Institute of the Horse formed a youth branch of their organisation called "The Pony Club." It was formed to encourage children to start riding, while providing them with opportunities in the field that they would not be able to reach on their own. The group grew rapidly, from 300 members in 1930, to over 10,000 in 1935.
