O Elvas Clube Alentejano de Desportos is a football club based in Elvas, Alentejo. It was founded in 1947 when the team S.L. Elvas and S.C. Elvas fused. Sport Lisboa e Elvas (founded in 1925) and O Elvas CAD spent several years in the Portuguese Liga, the main tier in the Portuguese football league system. Nowadays it plays in the Portalegre Regional Championships. History The club was founded on August 15, 1947, from the merger of "Sport Lisboa e Elvas" with "Sporting Clube Elvense", clubs that were branches of Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal respectively. Elvas () is a Portuguese municipality, former episcopal city and frontier fortress of easternmost central Portugal, located in the district of Portalegre in Alentejo. The Liga Portugal 2 (), also known as Liga Portugal 2 SABSEG for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division of the Portuguese football league system. The 2021–22 Campeonato de Portugal was the ninth season of Portuguese football's recreated fourth-tier league, since the merging of the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão in 2013, and the seventh season under the current Campeonato de Portugal title. The Campeonato de Portugal (Portuguese for 'Championship of Portugal') is the fourth level of the Portuguese football league system. Together with the third-tier Liga 3, it is organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).
