''Oʻtgan kunlar'' (Cyrillic: Ўтган кунлар ; "Bygone Days") is a 1925 Uzbek-language novel by Abdulla Qodiriy which is considered to be the first Uzbek novel. Abdulla Qodiriy
Abdulla Qodiriy ( uz, Abdulla Qodiriy, Абдулла Қодирий; russian: link=no, Абдулла́ Кадыри́) (April 10, 1894 – October 4, 1938), also spelt Abdullah Qodiriy and Abdullah Kadiri in English, was an Uzbek people, Uzbek playwright, poet, writer, and literary translator. Qodiriy was one of the most influential Uzbek writers of the 20th century. He introduced Literary realism, realism into Uzbek literature through his historical novels and influenced many other Central Asian novelists,. Qodiriy wrote under various pen names, the most renowned being Julqunboy. His early works were influenced by the Jadid movement. Qodiriy was executed during the Great Purge under the leadership of Joseph Stalin. Life Abdulla Qodiriy was born on April 10, 1894, in Tashkent, then Russian Turkestan. Uzbekfilm ( uz, Oʻzbekfilm, Ўзбекфильм; russian: Узбекфильм) is the largest and oldest film studio in Uzbekistan. It was established on July 1, 1925. The company was initially called Sharq Yulduzi (Eastern Star). In 1936, it was renamed to Uzbekfilm. During the Soviet-German war against Nazi Germany and its allies, the company was called Tashkent Film Studio. In 1958, it was renamed back to Uzbekfilm. Since its founding Uzbekfilm has produced about 400 feature films and 100 animated films. Jurji Zaydan
Jurji Zaydan ( ar, جرجي زيدان, ; December 14, 1861 – July 21, 1914) was a prolific Lebanese novelist, journalist, editor and teacher, most noted for his creation of the magazine ''Al-Hilal (magazine), Al-Hilal'', which he used to serialize his twenty three historical novels. His primary goal, as a writer and intellectual during the Nahda, was to make the common Arabic population know their own history through the entertaining medium of the novel. He has enjoyed a widespread popularity. He is also considered to have been one of the first thinkers to help formulate the theory of Arab nationalism.
