Oxford Road is a two-way street in Kowloon Tsai (often regarded as Kowloon Tong), Kowloon City District, Hong Kong. History Completed in mid-1950s, Oxford Road was named after Oxford, England as one of the Kowloon Tong streets which were named after places in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Britain by the British Hong Kong, British colonial authorities. Oxford, being a heritage-rich city in England, was chosen as the first name of all the Kowloon Tong streets. Location Oxford Road runs from Oxford Road Playground to Hereford Road near Sunderland Estate. Ying Wa College
Ying Wa College (also referred to as YWC, Anglo-Chinese College, ) is a direct subsidised boys' secondary school in Kowloon, Hong Kong near Nam Cheong station. It was established (as the Anglo-Chinese College) in Malacca in 1818 by the first Protestant missionary to China, Rev. Robert Morrison. In 1843, the college was moved to Hong Kong. Being the only school with over 200 years of history, it is the oldest school in Hong Kong. The College Deed, signed in 1821, stated that the objective of the school was the reciprocal cultivation of English and Chinese literature as well as the diffusion of Christianity (). The school was named after the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club who funded the construction of the school building complex. History Jockey Club Government Secondary School was established in 1960 as Jockey Club Modern School (). In the 1950s to 60's Hong Kong, 41% (according to the census) of the population were under the age of 15. Mary Rose Academy (formerly Mary Rose School) is a 2-19 special school with academy status, located in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. It opened in February 2007 and educates 110 pupils. The opening of Mary Rose School, due for September 2006, was delayed by design and construction issues. The school takes children with a wide range of severe and complex learning needs.
