Oxford Brookes University Rugby Football Club is a rugby union university club based in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. In the 2017–18 season OBURFC 1st XV gained promotion into British Universities and Colleges Sport, BUCS Midlands 1A which is level four of the BUCS rugby union system, although they are currently in BUCS Midlands 2B. Director of Rugby is Joe Winpenny. History The club reformed in 2014. OBURFC are one of two university Rugby Clubs representing in the City of Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, along with University of Oxford RFC. Current situation The club reformed in 2014 with the 1st XV playing in BUCS Midlands 1A. The following years saw the 1st XV get relegated in the 2015–16 season to BUCS Midlands 2B, while the 2nd XV plying their trade in BUCS Midlands 3B following promotion the season before. The Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Oxfordshire in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Oxfordshire, and administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the county. It also administers the Oxfordshire county rugby representative teams. History The Oxfordshire RFU was first formed during the 1931–32 season with L.C. Gower being the first ever president. There is little of note of the county's early history although a county cup competition was introduced for local clubs during the 1970s. Oxford Harlequins (Oxford Quins) Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Oxford, England. In the 2021-22 season the men's 1st XV gained promotion to a new league in the England Rugby Club Championship, Regional 1 South Central, a new nomenclature for National 3 / level five of the English rugby union system.
