Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. Sometimes the halfback can catch the ball from the backfield on short passing plays as they are an eligible receiver. Occasionally, they line up as additional wide receivers. Holland is a city in Bell County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,075 at the 2020 census. The center of population of Texas is located in Holland. It is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood metropolitan statistical area. History Holland's history reaches back to a time before the Civil War, when a community known as Mountain Home began to grow up near Gotcher's Mountain, a hill south of town. A post office was established on August 22, 1870, under the name Mountain Home, with James Shaw as postmaster. On November 6, 1871, the Mountain Home post office was officially closed. The Hardin–Simmons Cowboys football team represents Hardin–Simmons University in the sport of college football. Hardin–Simmons began competing in intercollegiate football in 1897. The program rose to prominence under Frank Kimbrough who compiled a 47–8–3 record () as head coach from 1935 to 1940. Kimbrough's teams played in the 1936 and 1937 Sun Bowls, and his undefeated and untied 1940 team was ranked No. 17 in the final AP Poll. From 1941 to 1961, the team competed as a member of the Border Conference. The Cleveland Rams were a professional American football team that played in Cleveland from 1936 to 1945. The Little All-America team is an honor given annually to the best small college players at their respective positions. The first Little All-America team for college football, selected with assistance from reporters in every region, was announced in December 1934 by Edward J. Neil of the Associated Press (AP). Passer rating (also known as passing efficiency in college football) is a measure of the performance of passers, primarily quarterbacks, in gridiron football. There are two formulas currently in use: one used by both the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL), and the other used in NCAA football. Passer rating is calculated using a player's passing attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns, and interceptions. Passer rating in the NFL is on a scale from 0 to 158.3. Passing efficiency in college football is on a scale from −731.6 to 1261.6. Since 1973, passer rating has been the official formula used by the NFL to determine its passing leader.
