Owen Evans (politician)
David Owen Evans (5 February 1876 – 11 June 1945) was a Liberal Party politician from Wales. Owen Evans was educated at Llandovery School and the Imperial College of Science. In 1896 he joined the civil service (Inland Revenue Department). Later he read for the Bar and was called to Gray's Inn. He practised law in London until 1916 when he joined the Mond Nickel Company. Rising through the ranks, he eventually became chief administrative officer of the company. He later became vice-president of the International Nickel Company of Canada. He was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Cardiganshire at a by-election in 1932, following the resignation of the Liberal MP Rhys Hopkin Morris. Evans held the seat until his sudden death, probably of heart failure, shortly before the 1945 general election. Jem Evans
Owen James 'Jem' Evans (1867 - 14 October 1942) was a Welsh rugby union half-back who played club rugby for Cardiff and international rugby for Wales. Evans was one of the earliest half-backs to play for Wales and was awarded four caps between 1887 and 1888, though never with the same partner. Rugby career Evans was first selected for Wales in the opening game of the 1887 Home Nations Championship, played in Llanelli against the English team. Evans was partnered with team captain and Newport player Charlie Newman. The Welsh team held England to a nil - nil draw, their best result to that date, and Evans was reselected for the next game of the Championship, away to Scotland. On this occasion, Evans was partnered with new cap George Bowen of Swansea, the Welsh captaincy going to Bob Gould. Kenneth Owen "KO" Evans (5 December 1916 – 19 November 1972) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Evans, who excelled in athletics while at Wesley College, played 64 games for South Melbourne, in seven seasons. The Wesley College recruit was on a half forward flank for South Melbourne in the 1936 VFL Grand Final loss to Collingwood. His career best goal tally was eight goals, which he got against Hawthorn at Lake Oval in 1940. Owen Rhys Evans (born 28 November 1996) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays for club Walsall as a goalkeeper. Club career Wigan Athletic Evans made his professional debut for Wigan in a 2–1 victory against Blackpool in the second round of the 2017–18 EFL Cup. On 25 July 2019, Evans went out on loan again, this time joining League Two side Macclesfield Town on a season-long loan deal. Owen Evans is a Welsh civil servant. Early life and education Owen Evans was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Gymunedol Penweddig in Aberystwyth, Wales. Evans completed his A-level in Economics in one year, and after leaving school, went on to study the subject at Swansea University, graduating in 1991.
