''Overgrown'' is the second studio album by English electronic music, electronic musician James Blake (musician), James Blake. It was released on 5 April 2013 by Blake's Atlas Records, along with A&M Records and Polydor Records. The album features guest appearances from electronic music producer Brian Eno and Wu-Tang Clan member RZA. ''Overgrown'' debuted at number eight on the UK Albums Chart and at number one on the US Dance/Electronic chart. It was supported by lead single "Retrograde (James Blake song), Retrograde". James Blake (musician)
James Blake Litherland (born 26 September 1988) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first received recognition for a series of 2010 EPs including ''CMYK'' and '' Klavierwerke'', and he released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to critical praise. His second album ''Overgrown'' was released in 2013, bringing him to international attention, and later was awarded the Mercury Prize. In 2016, he released his third album '' The Colour in Anything'' and his fourth album '' Assume Form'' in 2019, both receiving positive reviews and the latter becoming his highest-peaking album in the US ''Billboard'' 200, at number 21. It was released in both the United Kingdom and the United States on R&S Records on 28 May 2010. It music sample, samples many tracks, mostly from 1990s Contemporary R&B, R&B. The EP received positive reviews from critics. Composition The title track samples Kelis' "Caught Out There" and Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?". Pitchfork (website), Pitchfork described the track as "modern homage to old ideas" as Blake "[took] two R&B archetypes ... and imagines them in a back and forth." ''Enough Thunder'' is the fourth solo EP by English dubstep producer and singer-songwriter James Blake. The EP showcases more soul music than the experimental dubstep and electronic sounds of his self-titled debut album. The EP contains a collaboration with Bon Iver and a Joni Mitchell cover. The EP was bundled with the deluxe edition of Blake's self-titled debut album, as well as being a standalone release. Reception The EP received a 64/100 on Metacritic indicating generally positive reviews. ''Entertainment Weekly's'' review stated that "The silky-voiced Brit's Bon Iver-assisted EP is lush enough to be played at a swanky restaurant, but it may be even better suited to an evening alone with a hard drink."
