Ove Ødegaard
Ove Ødegaard (11 April 1931 – 15 November 1964) was a Norwegian footballer. He made his international debut for Norway on 10 June 1952, playing a 1–2 loss to neighbours Finland at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo. He was a standby player for their squad at the year's Olympics in Finland. Ødegaard totalled six matches for Norway – one apiece in 1955 and 1958, and three in 1959. On 23 September 1959, at the Praterstadion in Vienna, he scored his only international goals in a 5–2 loss to Austria; Norway lost 6–2 on aggregate and failed to qualify for the 1960 European Nations' Cup. At the club level, he spent most of his career with SK Snøgg. In 1958, he moved to Odds BK, where he lost in the cup final to Rosenborg BK in 1960. 1960 European Nations' Cup Qualifying
This article describes the qualifying procedure for the 1960 European Nations' Cup, the inaugural edition of the European Nations' Cup tournament, now known as the UEFA European Championship. Qualified teams Format The qualification was a knockout tournament where the teams would play a two-legged tie on a home-and-away basis. If the aggregate scores were level at the end of the tie, a third leg was played at a neutral venue to decide the winners. It consisted of a preliminary round, a round of 16, and a quarter-final round. The four quarter-final winners would qualify for the tournament proper; one of those four countries would then be chosen to host it. 17 teams entered the competition; notable absences included West Germany, Italy, England and the Netherlands. Brunlanes
Brunlanes is a parish and former municipality within Larvik municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It was annexed by Larvik on January 1, 1988. The administrative centre of the municipality was located in the adjacent villages of Nevlunghavn and Helgeroa. Arguably the best soil in Vestfold County can be found in Brunlanes, and farming is the main industry with considerable vegetable- and corn cultivation. It is home to Berg Old Church at Berg, which was erected in the 1100s, but laid in ruins by the 1960s. The church had been rebuilt and features a clear-cut architecture with a red tilestone roof. History The parish of Brunlagnæs was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Rosenborg BK
Rosenborg Ballklub, commonly referred to simply as Rosenborg () or RBK, is a Norwegian professional football club from Trondheim that plays in Eliteserien. The club has won a record 26 league titles, a shared record 12 Norwegian Football Cup titles and have played more UEFA matches than any other Norwegian team. RBK play their home games at the all-seater Lerkendal Stadion which has a capacity of 21,421. The club was founded as Odd in 1917 but were not allowed to play amateur league matches until 1928, when they took the present name. They reached the League of Norway in 1937–38, but were relegated to lower divisions during the 1940s. 1960 European Nations' Cup
The 1960 European Nations' Cup was the first edition of the UEFA European Championship, held every four years and organised by UEFA. The first tournament was held in France. It was won by the Soviet Union, who beat Yugoslavia 2–1 in Paris after extra time. The tournament was a knockout competition; just 17 teams entered with some notable absences, West Germany, Italy and England among those missing. The teams would play home-and-away matches until the semi-finals; the final four teams would then move on to the final tournament, whose host was selected after the teams became known. In the quarter-finals, Spain, who were under Francoist rule, refused to travel to the Soviet Union for political reasons.
