''Outside the Law'' ( es, Fuera de la ley) is a 1937 Argentine thriller film directed and written by Manuel Romero. The film premiered on 12 May 1940 in the United States. The film starred José Gola, Luis Arata, Roberto Blanco, and Irma Córdoba It was selected as the tenth greatest Argentine film of all time in a poll conducted by the Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken in 1977. Plot Juan Robles, the son of a police superintendent, becomes involved in crime and is sentenced to a prison term. After being released, he falls in love with Emilia, a young single mother who rejects him. Obsessed with the woman, Juan and some fellow gangsters kidnap Emilia's little daughter. Pedro Robles, his father, ask his superiors to take the case himself in order to confront his deranged son. Manuel Romero (director)
Manuel Romeo (September 21, 1891 – October 3, 1954 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine film director, screenwriter, dramatist and score composer, and one of the influential directors in the cinema of Argentina of the classic era. He directed and wrote over 50 films between 1931 and 1951 even composing the musical scores for several. He was a pioneer of Variety Theatre, and one of the few tango lyrical writers that has reached timeless classical success. When he was a teenager, he began his journalist job in the Magacine Fray Mochoy, and in the newspapers Crítica y Última Hora. His first play, "Teatro breve" is from 1919 with the collaboration of Ivo Pelay. He wrote 180 more. In 1922 the most famous, "El bailarín del cabaret", was staged with the César Ratti's company, where Corsini triunfó (had a success) with "Patotero sentimental". The 100 Greatest Films of Argentine Cinema (Spanish: ''Las 100 mejores películas del cine argentino''), also known as the Survey of Argentine cinema (Spanish: ''Encuesta de cine argentino''), are a series of opinion polls carried out to establish a list of the greatest films of Argentine cinema of all time. The original survey was carried out by the Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken in the years 1977, 1984, 1991 and 2000. In 2022, a new edition was held, organized by the film magazines ''La vida útil'', ''Taipei'' and ''La tierra quema'', with support from INCAA, the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, the FestiFreak International Film Festival of La Plata, the Casa de la Cultura of General Roca and the Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken. Oscar Aníbal Crudeli (November 11, 1930 – June 27, 1996), better known as Roberto Achával, was an Argentine tango violinist. He became well-known and popular in Argentina following his appearance on the Argentinian television show "Grandes Valores del Tango". He was a member of Aníbal Troilo's orchestra. Biography Achával was born to Alejandro and Josefa Scalesi in Ingeniero White, Bahía Blanca, in the province of Buenos Aires. Later he married Juana Dodero, also known as ''La Negra''. Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken is a museum of cinema of Argentina located in Buenos Aires. It was established on 1971 and holds a collection of 65,000 reels of film.
