Outpost Club
The Outpost Club (“OC”) is an invitation-only, national golf society in the United States. Modeled after historic golf societies in Great Britain, it does not own a course but members can play more than 50 events each year at Top 100 courses around the world. These events range in format from members only, to members and guests, to matches against other private clubs. History The Outpost Club was formed on February 11, 2010 by Quentin Lutz, Colin Sheehan, and Will Smith. Lutz previously worked for the American Golf Course Designer Arthur Hills and is the youngest person ever to play the complete list of Golf Magazine's Top 100 Courses in the World. Colin Sheehan is the author of A History of The United States Amateur Championship, 1895-2005 and head coach of the Yale University golf team. Will Smith has worked for Tom Doak and Gil Hanse. Arthur Hills
Arthur Hills (1930 – May 18, 2021) was an American golf course designer. He designed more than 200 new golf courses, including private, resort, upscale, and public golf courses around the world. In addition, Arthur Hills' firm, Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates, has been requested to renovate or modify more than 120 courses, including some of the country's most renowned clubs, often in preparation for major USGA and PGA Championships. Education Hills earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Agronomy) from Michigan State University in 1953 and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan. Career Hills designed his first golf course in 1967: the course was Brandywine Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. ''Golf Magazine'' is a monthly golf magazine. It was started in April 1959 by Universal Publishing and Distributing, who sold it to Times Mirror in 1972. Time Inc. acquired it in 2000. It was acquired by Howard Milstein in 2018. It was the world's most widely read golf publication from August 2006 to January 2007. The magazine is for golfers of all skill levels. Some features it includes are instruction from the top 100 teachers in America, interviews with famous golfers, tips on the best values for golf courses to go to on vacation, and an annual club test. Tom Doak
Tom Doak is a golf course architect. He has 6 courses ranked among the top 100 in the world according to the "Top 100 Courses in the World" March 2021 list compiled by ''Golf Magazine.'' These include Pacific Dunes in Oregon, Ballyneal in Colorado, Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand. Doak lives in Michigan. He was a student of golf course designer Pete Dye, although perhaps his greatest influence comes from Alister MacKenzie (whom Doak wrote a book about), designer of Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, and consultant to Bobby Jones at Augusta National. Gil Hanse
Gilbert Hanse (born August 12, 1963) is an American golf course architect. Hanse, along with his business partner Jim Wagner, was selected to design the Rio 2016 Olympic Golf Course, the first Olympic venue to host golf since 1904. Education Attended secondary school at Hunter Tannersville High school in Tannersville, New York and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver. Hanse earned a master's in landscape architecture from Cornell University in 1989. Hanse was the recipient of the William Frederick Dreer Award, which allowed him to spend a year in Great Britain studying the history of golf architecture. Highland Park distillery is the second northernmost single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland ( Kimbland Distillery on Sanday being 22 miles further north), located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. History Highland Park distillery was founded by Magnus Eunson, a butcher and church officer by day and illicit distiller and whisky smuggler by night. In 1798 he was caught illegally distilling whisky on the site. In 1826, nearly 30 years later, Highland Park received an official licence to distill whisky. Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is an American charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. It operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. As of August 22, 2021, WWP served 157,975, registered alumni and 40,520 registered family support members.
