Louis William Chaudet (March 20, 1884 – May 10, 1965) was an American film director of the silent movie era. Biography He was born on March 20, 1884, in Manhattan, Kansas. He died May 10, 1965, in Woodland Hills, California. Louis was the second child and only son of 5 siblings born to Alfred C. Chaudet (1854-1939) and Eva Ann Schlashman Chaudet (1862-1930). Alfred moved his family from Kansas to Pasadena CA between 1900 and 1910 according to the Census of 1910. Tom O'Brien (July 25, 1890 – June 8, 1947) was an American silent and sound character actor known for his burly serio-comic roles. He worked in the comedy film ''The Gentleman from America'' (1923) as Johnny Day, which is about the humorous tale of two American buddies (O'Brien and Hoot Gibson) and they have numerous adventures in Spain. Tom O'Brien appeared in over 80 films in a 22 years of career. He was primarily cast as stocky "Irish types" in comic supporting roles. Lucy Beaumont (born Lucy Emily Pinkstone; 18 May 1869 – 24 April 1937) was an English actress of the stage and screen from Bristol. Biography On Broadway, Beaumont played Lady Emily Lyons in '' The Bishop Misbehaves'' (1935) and Mrs. Barwick in ''Berkeley Square'' (1925). A 1932 revival of ''Berkeley Square'', featuring Beaumont, Miriam Seegar, George Baxter and Henry Mowbray, was staged in San Francisco by Arthur Greville Collins. A silent film is a film with no synchronized recorded sound (or more generally, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of title cards. The term "silent film" is something of a misnomer, as these films were almost always accompanied by live sounds. During the silent era that existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, a pianist, theater organist—or even, in large cities, a small orchestra—would often play music to accompany the films. Pianists and organists would play either from sheet music, or improvisation. Sometimes a person would even narrate the inter-title cards for the audience.
