Our Curse
''Our Curse'' (original title ''Nasza klątwa'') is a 2013 Polish documentary film by Tomasz Śliwiński documenting the first six months in their life of his son Leo, who suffers from the rare genetic disorder called Ondine's curse. When Leo was born, a friend of Śliwiński's had suggested he document his experiences as a form of therapy. Śliwiński was in film school at the time; his wife Magda Hueckel is a professional photographer. Ondine's Curse
Central hypoventilation syndrome (CHS) is a sleep-related breathing disorder that causes ineffective breathing, apnea, or respiratory arrest during sleep (and during wakefulness in severe cases). CHS can either be congenital (CCHS) or acquired (ACHS) later in life. The condition can be fatal if untreated. CCHS was once known as Ondine's curse. ACHS can develop as a result of severe injury or trauma to the brain or brainstem. Congenital cases are very rare and involve a failure of autonomic control of breathing. In 2006, there were only about 200 known cases worldwide. As of 2008, only 1000 total cases were known. The diagnosis may be delayed because of variations in the severity of the manifestations or lack of awareness in the medical community, particularly in milder cases. Short Waves Festival
Short Waves Festival is an annual international short film film festival, festival held in Poznań, Poznań, Poland. Its main characteristic is inclusion of not only live-action, documentary and animated films, but also music videos, experimental films and video-art. It is one of the main events of its kind in Poland. The event's slogan hails it as "the most concise short film festival". History Since its commencement, the festival is organized by the Ad Arte Foundation from Poznań. Short Waves started as a multi-location event held simultaneously in various cities.
