Otún River
The Otún River (''Río Otún'') is a river in the Risaralda Department, Risaralda department of Colombia. Its source is Lake Otún, fed by meltwater from Nevado Santa Isabel, and its outlet is the Cauca River. The Otún River passes between the cities of Pereira, Colombia, Pereira and Dosquebradas, and is crossed at that point by the César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct, one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in South America. The Otún River is the only source of drinking water for Pereira and Dosquebradas. The local water company takes about from the river at a site known as Nuevo Libaré. Agricultural development in that region has affected the quality of the water from the river, with pig and chicken farms as well as human waste water being major sources of bacteriological contamination. Risaralda Department
Risaralda () or "Rizaralde", is a landlocked department of Colombia. It is located in the western central region of the country and part of the Paisa Region. Its capital is Pereira. It was divided from the department of Caldas in 1966. Risaralda is very well known for the high quality of its coffee, and a booming industry: clothes, food, trading of goods and services. The territory is very mountainous and has many kinds of climates in a very small area. Lake Otún
Lake Otún (''Laguna del Otún'') is a small lake in the Nevados National Park, in the Risaralda department of Colombia. It located at an altitude of 3,900 m and has an area of 1.5 square kilometres. The lake is of glacial origin and is fed by meltwaters of the Nevado Santa Isabel. Lake Otún is the source of the Otún River, which supplies drinking water to the cities of Pereira and Dosquebradas. Cauca River
The Cauca River () is a river in Colombia that lies between the Occidental and Central cordilleras. From its headwaters in southwestern Colombia near the city of Popayán, it joins the Magdalena River near Magangue in Bolivar Department, and the combined river eventually flows out into the Caribbean Sea. Dosquebradas () is the second largest city and a municipality in the Risaralda Department, Colombia. , it had a population of approximately 207,000 inhabitants. The city is connected by the César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct to Pereira, the capital of the department. The name of the city literally means "two creeks" (''dos quebradas''), Santa Teresita and Las Garzas. Dosquebradas is sometimes called the Pink Zone (''Zona Rosa'') of Pereira because it has many nightclubs and bars, which are filled with young people on the weekends. It grew up as an industrial center serving Pereira in the 1970s and 1980s. César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct
The César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct ( es, Viaducto César Gaviria Trujillo) is a cable-stayed bridge connecting the neighbouring cities of Pereira and Dosquebradas in Risaralda, Colombia. It is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in South America and, at the time of its completion in 1997, ranked 20th in the world. The bridge has a total length of 440 metres, including a central span of 211 metres. There are four traffic lanes and two sidewalks, giving a total width of 26 metres. There are two towers (Concrete material) that have a height of 56 metres above the deck (Steel structure), which in turn has a maximum height of 55 metres above the Otún River.
