Otto Torvik
Otto Torvik (12 June 1901 – 8 April 1988) was a Norwegians, Norwegian missionary in Xinjiang and in India. He founded the Norwegian Missionary Muhammad Mission (''Den Norske Muhammedanermisjon'') in 1940. Today, the name is changed to Christian Muslim Mission (''Kristen Muslimmisjon''). Biography Otto Torvik was born at Romsdal in Bolsøy parish just east of Molde, Norway. His father, Ingebrigt Taraldsen from Torvik in Romsdal, was a farmer and lay preacher. His mother was sick when Torvik was born, and she prayed that his son would to be used in the service of God. He attended Rauma Folkehøgskole in Molde, where Torvik first heard of the overseas Mission (Christianity), missions. The missionary call grew in him and he continued to study at Fjellhaug Internasjonale Høgskole in Oslo which was run by the Norwegian Lutheran Mission, Norwegian Lutheran China Mission Association. Norwegians ( no, nordmenn) are a North Germanic ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. Olav Hodne
Olav Hodne (16 June 1921 – 29 October 2009) was a Norwegian humanitarian and missionary, affiliated with the Norwegian Santal Mission. He was awarded the Nansen Refugee Award in 1976. Early life and education Hodne was born at Lindås in Hordaland, Norway. He was raised in Bergen where he took his examen artium in 1941. He attended a missionary school in Stavanger from which he graduated in 1946. Career After graduation, Hodne was employed by the Norwegian Santal Mission (''Den norske Santalmisjon'') and sent to India in 1948. In 1972, he became the founder and director of initially the Cooch Behar Refugee Service extended to support refugees during the Bangladesh War of Independence. Following the war, Olav Hodne was instrumental in the founding of Rangpur Dinapur Relief Service.
