Otto Rogers
Otto Donald Rogers (19 November 1935 – 28 April 2019) was a Canadian painter and sculptor from rural Saskatchewan whose abstract works reflects his belief as a member of the Baháʼí Faith in unity in diversity. His work has been widely exhibited. It is held in many private and public collections in Canada and other countries. Early years Otto Donald Rogers was born on 19 December 1935 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. He grew up on a farm near Kelfield, Saskatchewan. He attended high school in Kindersley, and then studied at the Saskatoon Teachers' College from 1952 to 1953. He took an art class with Wynona Mulcaster, who was impressed by his talent and encouraged Rogers to pursue a career in art. Mulcaster introduced him to cubism, a style he was to adopt for himself. Kerrobert
Kerrobert is a town in west central Saskatchewan. It has a population of 970 (2021) Kerrobert is served by Highway 21, Highway 31 and Highway 51 as well as the Canadian Pacific Railway. It is approximately east of the Saskatchewan/Alberta border and west of Saskatoon. The town is known for its large water tower, clearly visible from away. Mendel Art Gallery
The Mendel Art Gallery was a major creative cultural centre in City Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Operating from 1964 to 2015, it housed a permanent collection of more than 7,500 works of art. The gallery was managed by the city-owned Saskatoon Gallery and Conservatory Corporation, which also managed the Mendel's sister institution, the Saskatoon Civic Conservatory. In 1999, it was the 16th largest public art gallery in Canada by budget size and had the sixth highest overall attendance in the country. By 2010, it had more than 180,000 visitors. MacKenzie Art Gallery
The MacKenzie Art Gallery (MAG; french: Musee d’art MacKenzie) is an art museum located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The museum occupies the multipurpose T. C. Douglas Building, situated at the edge of the Wascana Centre. The building holds eight galleries totaling to of exhibition space. The museum originates from a private collection donated to Regina College (later the University of Regina) from Norman MacKenzie. Clement Greenberg () (January 16, 1909 – May 7, 1994), occasionally writing under the pseudonym K. Hardesh, was an American essayist known mainly as an art critic closely associated with American modern art of the mid-20th century and a formalist aesthetician. Roland David Smith (March 9, 1906 – May 23, 1965) was an American Abstract expressionism, abstract expressionist sculptor and painter, best known for creating large steel abstract geometry, geometric sculptures. Early life Roland David Smith was born on March 9, 1906, in Decatur, Indiana, Decatur, Indiana and moved to Paulding, Ohio in 1921, where he attended high school. Julio González i Pellicer (21 September 1876 – 27 March 1942), born in Barcelona, was a Spanish sculptor and painter who developed the expressive use of iron as a medium for modern sculpture. He was from a lineage of metalsmith workers and artists. His grandfather was a goldsmith worker and his father, Concordio González, a metalsmith worker who taught him the techniques of metalsmith in his childhood years.
