Ottar Brox
Ottar Brox (30 August 1932 – 16 February 2024) was a Norwegian authority in social science and a politician for the Socialist Left Party (Norway), Socialist Left Party. He was professor of sociology at the University of Tromsø from 1972 to 1984, and later associate professor while working as head of research at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research. He was awarded an Honorary degree, honorary doctorate by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in 2019. Life and career Brox graduated as an agronomist from Norwegian College of Agriculture (NLH, now the Norwegian University of Life Sciences) in 1957, took history and sociology at the University of Oslo in 1959 and 1960 and a Doctor of Science degree from NLH in 1970. Brox was a member of parliament for Troms in the period 1973–1977. He was not re-elected in 1977. Torsken
Torsken is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality that was located on the western coast of the large Senja (island), island of Senja in the old Troms Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1902 until its dissolution in 2020 when it was merged into the new Senja Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Gryllefjord. Other larger villages in Torsken municipality included the villages of Torsken (village), Torsken, Medby, and Flakstadvåg. The historic Torsken Church in the village of Torsken dates back to the 18th century. Ånderdalen National Park was partially located inside the old borders of Torsken and neighboring Tranøy municipalities. Fritt Ord Honorary Award
Fritt Ord Award consists of two prizes awarded by the Fritt Ord Foundation (''Stiftelsen Fritt Ord''). Two prizes are awarded in support of freedom of speech and freedom of expression; the Fritt Ord Award ( no, Fritt Ords pris) and the Fritt Ord Honorary Award ( no, Fritt Ords honnør). These are awards are distributed annually during the month of May in connection with the anniversary of the liberation of Norway at the end of World War II in May 1945.
