''Other Halves'' is a 1984 New Zealand film directed by John Laing. The film is based on a book by Sue McCauley. Synopsis A relationship develops between a Maori boy in drug rehab and a married Pākehā Pākehā (or Pakeha; ; ) is a Māori term for New Zealanders primarily of European descent. John Laing (director)
John Laing is a New Zealand film and television director and producer. Early life Laing was born in Dunedin. Career Laiang made his major directorial debut with the film ''Beyond Reasonable Doubt'' (1980). He directed a number of other films including ''Abandoned'' (2015) before starting a career in television, directing episodes of the Canadian series '' The Hitchhiker''. Onno Boelee
Onno Boelee (1945–2013) was a Dutch-New Zealand actor, stuntman and professional wrestler. Although he never won a championship title, he was a popular star in Steve Rickard's All Star-Pro Wrestling, frequently appearing on Rickard's wrestling programme '' On the Mat'' and later in Japan for Giant Baba and All-Japan Pro Wrestling during the early to mid-1970s. After his retirement in 1976, Boelee achieved some success as a character actor and stuntman during the 1980s, especially in Hong Kong action cinema, and eventually founded a private security company which is involved in stunt performance, armoury and acting within the New Zealand film and television industry. Grant Tilly
Grant Leonard Ridgway Tilly (12 December 1937 – 10 April 2012) was a New Zealand stage, movie and television actor, set designer, teacher and artist. Life and career Grant Tilly was educated in Wellington, taking art at Wellington Technical College in the early 1950s. He then attended teachers college in Wellington and Dunedin, specialising in arts and crafts teaching. He was awarded an overseas bursary and studied children's drama in England during the early 1960s, learning from the best, Peter Slade and Brian Way. On his return to New Zealand he tutored drama with Nola Millar and later became a senior acting tutor at New Zealand Drama School. In 1976, Tilly helped establish Wellington's Circa Theatre, where he acted in a number of plays written by playwright Roger Hall, one of New Zealand's most successful playwrights.
