Osvaldo Zavala Giler
Osvaldo Zavala Giler (born 1978/1979) is an Ecuadorian jurist. He has been the registrar of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since 17 April 2023 and has a five-year mandate. Early life and career Zavala Giler was born as son of Osvaldo Zavala Egas. He is a grandson of Jorge Zavala. Zavala Giler obtained an interest in criminal law and human rights from his grandfather, of whom he has stated was a large influence in his life. Zavala Giler obtained a bachelor's degree in social and political science at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. He obtained a law degree at the same university. From 2000 to 2003 he worked at the law firm of his grandfather in Ecuador. He started working there from the third year of university. During this time he also worked on cases before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
