Llanelli
Llanelli ("St Elli's Parish"; ) is a market town and the largest community in Carmarthenshire and the preserved county of Dyfed, Wales. It is located on the Loughor estuary north-west of Swansea and south-east of the county town, Carmarthen. The town had a population of 25,168 in 2011, estimated in 2019 at 26,225. The local authority was Llanelli Borough Council when the county of Dyfed existed, but it has been under Carmarthenshire County Council since 1996. Name Spelling The anglicised spelling “Llanelly” was used until 1966, when it was changed to Llanelli after a local public campaign. The 1949–50 season was the 70th season of competitive football in England. Overview Portsmouth retained the First Division title by one of the narrowest margins in history ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. An event that was much talked about in the city of Sheffield for many years was the way the promotion race from the Second Division was won. Going into the last game of the season, Sheffield Wednesday needed to beat Tottenham Hotspur to clinch promotion at the expense of their local rivals Sheffield United. The resulting 0–0 draw meant Wednesday won promotion by a goal average difference of just 0.008 – a 1–1 draw would have left the two great rivals level on points and goal average, and a unique play-off match would have had to be played. Kent Senior Cup
The Kent Senior Cup is an English football competition played between senior clubs in the county of Kent. It is administered by the Kent County Football Association. History The Kent Badge preceded the Kent Senior Cup, and was won in its three-year history by Chatham. This competition was replaced by the Kent Senior Cup in 1889. Between 1894 and 1897 the cup was awarded to the Kent League champions. Past winners of the Kent Senior Cup include Royal Arsenal (now Arsenal) in 1889–90, and Gillingham in 1945–46 and 1947–48; the two sides are now members of the Premier League and Football League respectively. The 2013–14 Kent Senior Cup marked the 125th anniversary year of the competition, with the first match having been played in 1889. Blackburn () is an industrial town and the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England.
