Osmund ( fl. ) was a King of Sussex, apparently reigning jointly with Oswald, Ælfwald, and Oslac. According to the ''Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'', version D, Osmund was reigning in Sussex when Archbishop Cuthbert died in 760, so his rule commenced before that event. Osmund issued a charter, dated 762 in error for 765, as ''Osmundus''. Osmund also issued a charter dated 770 in which he is listed as ''Osmundus rex''. So Osmund’s reign was from in or before 760 to between 770 and 772, as he witnessed a charter of Offa Offa (died 29 July 796 AD) was King of Mercia, a kingdom of Anglo-Saxon England, from 757 until his death. Osmond Ezinwa
Osmond Ezinwa (born 22 November 1971) is a former sprinter from Nigeria. Together with Olapade Adeniken, Francis Obikwelu and Davidson Ezinwa he won a silver medal in 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics. Sir Arthur Osmond Wynn Williams JP DL (17 March 1849 – 28 January 1927) was a Welsh Liberal Party politician. Early life He was born at Llanfihangel-y-Traethau, Merionethshire, Wales on 17 March 1849. He was the eldest surviving son of Anne Louisa (née Loveday) Williams and David Williams, M.P. for Merioneth from 1868 to 1869. Among his siblings was brother Dr. Leonard Williams, the prominent physician and writer, and sister Alice Williams, the painter and welfare worker. Williams was educated at Eton. Vidya Jyothi Osmund Jayaratne (2 October 1924–September 2006) was Sri Lankan academic and politician. He was the President of the Colombo Campus, University of Sri Lanka (now the University of Colombo), Emeritus Professor of Physics. As a left wing politician he was a member of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party playing major role in the Hartal 1953. Educated at the Royal College, Colombo where he won the Turnour Prize and came second in the island in both the Cambridge Senior Certificate Examination and the London Matriculation Examination. The Composer-Tron was developed by Osmond Kendal for the Canadian Marconi Company in 1953. It was the first analogue synthesis and composition instrument of its kind. It utilized a unique and innovative control system that had a cathode ray tube input device that could read shapes or patterns that was hand drawn on to its surface with a grease pencil. The drawn shape could define the timbre of the note, or the envelope shape of the sound. A sequence of the rhythmical markings could be defined using the writings similar to a cue sheet type strip of film. This was the future innovation for composers. With Kendal's grease pencil, the composer could draw the grooves, run it through the Composer-Tron and can ensure that all written music was listened to first, before symphony orchestra's played the music. Osmond Kelly Ingram (August 4, 1887 – October 15, 1917) was a sailor in the United States Navy during World War I who received the Medal of Honor posthumously. Biography Born to Robert L. Ingram and his wife Naomi Elizabeth Lea in Oneonta, Alabama, Ingram entered the Navy November 24, 1903. His ship, , was attacked by the German submarine ''U-61'' off Ireland on October 15, 1917. Gunner's Mate First Class Ingram spotted the approaching torpedo, realized it would strike close by the ship's depth charges, thus dooming the ship, and rushed to jettison the ammunition. He was blown overboard when the torpedo struck, thus becoming the United States' Navy's first enlisted man killed in action in World War I as he attempted to save his ship and shipmates. Reverend Osmond Fisher (17 November 1817 – 12 July 1914) was an English clergyman, geologist and geophysicist. He was one of the early geologists who proposed the idea that the earth consisted of a solid crust floating above a fluid core. Early life and education Fisher was born in Osmington, Dorset, the son of clergyman John Fisher (1788–1832) who was Vicar of Osmington and Canon of Salisbury. Sir Osmond Thomas Grattan Esmonde, 12th Baronet (4 April 1896 – 22 July 1936) was an Irish diplomat and Cumann na nGaedheal (and later Fine Gael) politician. He was born in Ballynastragh, Gorey, County Wexford in 1896, the eldest son of Sir Thomas Esmonde. He was educated at Mount St Benedict School in Gorey; and the Downside School. He attended Balliol College, Oxford and University College Dublin, though he did not graduate from either.
