The Osmonds
The Osmonds were an American family music group who reached the height of their fame in the early to mid-1970s. The group had its best-known configurations as a quartet (billed as the Osmond Brothers) and a quintet (as the Osmonds). The group has consisted of siblings who are all members of a family of musicians from Ogden, Utah, and have been in the public eye since the 1960s. The Osmond Brothers began as a barbershop quartet consisting of brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay. They were later joined by younger siblings Donny and Jimmy, both of whom enjoyed success as solo artists. With the addition of Donny, the group became known as the Osmonds; performing both as teen idols and as a rock band, their peak lasted from 1971 to 1975. ''Osmonds'' is the third album released by the Osmonds, the first under MGM as the Osmonds and the first to feature Donny. The first single from the album, "One Bad Apple", became a number-one hit according to the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart. The second single from the album, " Sweet and Innocent", reached number seven, with the single sleeve crediting group member Donny Osmond as the artist. The album reached number 14 on the Billboard Top Lps chart on February 27, 1971. It was certified Gold by the RIAA on September 13, 1971. ''The Osmonds'' is a 1972 ABC-TV Saturday morning cartoon series produced by Rankin/Bass Productions starring the Osmond Brothers. Each episode features the family in a different location around the world, with young Jimmy's antics usually driving the plot of the episode. As with most television series oriented around bands, the Osmonds' songs were featured prominently in the series. The series also featured their talking pet dog, Fuji. Marie Osmond did not appear in the series (save for being briefly depicted in "Transylvania,") as she would not make her performing debut until 1973. ''The Osmonds'' is a musical based on the life and music of The Osmonds. The musical's story is by Jay Osmond and features a book by Julian Bigg and Shaun Kerrison. Synopsis The musical tells the story of the five Osmond brothers, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny from Utah in the 1970s who formed The Osmonds band selling 100 million records and winning 59 Gold and Platinum awards. Production UK and Ireland tour (2022) The musical had its world premiere at the Curve Theatre, Leicester on 3 February 2022 before touring the UK and Ireland until December 2022. The production is directed by Shaun Kerrison and features choreography by Bill Deamer, with Musical Supervision/Arrangements by Julian Bigg and Rich Morris. Osmond, Newfoundland And Labrador
Osmond is an unincorporated place in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The settlement was a stop on the Newfoundland Railway. History By the late 1800s, the coastal area between Cape Ray, Newfoundland and Labrador, Cape Ray and Grand Bay West was occupied by about 100 settlers living in the tiny scattered communities of Big Barachois, Cape Barrisway (or Barachois Point), Dreadfall Point, Jerrett Point, Middle Barachois, Point Rosy, and Rocky Barachois. The settlers fished for cod in the local waters, and established farms, selling vegetables to fishing communities along the southwest coast of Newfoundland.
